Head of Finance
Job Description
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer and Fractional CFO
Requirements
Finance Management
Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal activities and financial planning.
- Establish and maintain highly organized accounting and bookkeeping systems.
- Streamline and reconcile financial data across various organization systems.
- Develop and maintain secure procedures to hold confidential financial information.
- Ensure all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations.
- Monitor and manage:
- Banking activities and alert management/stakeholders when appropriate.
- Accounting data entry related to bookkeeping.
- Weekly account reconciliations.
- Accounts payable payments, including, but not limited to: contractors, affiliates, vendors, and credit card bill payments.
- Withholding, sales tax, unemployment tax, state business licenses and registrations
- Manage relationships with 3rd party finance-related partners, including insurers, merchant service providers, etc.
- Develop the ability to project, plan, and evaluate business investments into new products, services, and partnerships
- Develop the ability to negotiate and/or provide input and analysis for high-risk/high-impact financial deals
- Proactively raise issues with direct or indirect financial impact and possible solutions.
- Work with the Leadership team members to refine their budgets for optimal efficiency and results.
- In partnership with the Fractional CFO, interface with business professionals including bankers, CPAs, attorneys, vendors, contractors, etc.
- In partnership with the Fractional CFO, interface with partners, investors, and relevant stakeholders as needed, to manage high risk, high return issues and relationships.
Analysis
Conduct continuous analysis of FRN's financial status with a critical eye to spot data anomalies, trends, or deviations and introduce strategies for improvement.
- Forecast monthly, quarterly and annual results.
- Allocate resources and manage cash flows.
- Conduct profit and loss analyses for internal and external initiatives.
- Ensure capital and resources are optimally deployed, including recommending cost-reducing solutions.
- Coordinate with FRN's CPA to ensure the appropriate presentation of the books.
- Provide financial health analysis, including margin analysis, return on investment calculations, and business model optimization
Reporting
Provide useful reports to CEO, Leadership Team, and the company overall that inform contextual fiscal awareness, risk management, and financial strategic planning.
- Provide monthly, quarterly and annual reports, as requested and necessary.
- Provide reliable current and forecasting reports.
- Provide monthly fiscal health, and KPIs reports.
- Provide financial scenario planning and consultation.
- Develop and maintain leading and lagging indicators that impact and inform the financial performance of the organization, including relevant benchmarking and best practices (this may initially need to be done with guidance from the Fractional CFO)
- Develop and maintain other ad hoc financial reporting and management as needed, including risk assessments, financing requirements, business model analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and investment return estimates (this initially may need to be done with guidance from the Fractional CFO)
Finance Team Management
Manage and mentor the Finance team for robust performance.
- Supervise and foster skill development with all finance personnel.
- Manage and monitor the CPA, to ensure that all local, state and federal tax returns are accurately filed and meet requirements for national, state, and local agencies.
- Create and implement systems for robust documentation to facilitate role clarity, team member redundancies, and scality capacity.
Leadership Team
Serve as a member of the Leadership team, working cross-functionally with other organizational leaders in helping to strategize, visualize, and implement overall organizational direction.
- Participate in leadership meetings and training.
- Work with the Leadership team to sharpen and steward the implementation of sound strategy to help create sustainable and scalable growth, recurring revenue, and product improvements.
- Expand FRN's authority and visibility.
- Collaborate with the Leadership team to maintain and improve a friendly, sustainable, diverse, collaborative, equitable, inclusive, and efficient team culture.

- Proficient with Google Drive
- Strong management and team leadership skills
- Advanced to expert-level skill with Quickbooks Online
- Proficient with Fathom
- Proficient with PayPal
- Expert at balancing bank statements
- Extremely well-organized
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Strong writing skills
- Excellent math skills, especially pertaining to accounting and reporting requirements

Work Location
FRN is a fully remote team, with team members in multiple North American time zones. This position may be performed from anywhere, but we strongly prefer North America-compatible time zones, with a required availability from 9 am - 3 pm Pacific Time Monday through Thursday.
Compensation
