About The Role & Team

The Head of Global Payroll will be a key partner in implementing and developing strategies to lead and scale our payroll operations and systems globally, while maintaining internal controls, compliance, quality, and accuracy.  This leader will partner closely with various stakeholders to ensure a consistent and integrated approach as related to Finance and HR processes and solutions.  This role will manage the worldwide day to day payroll operations, including vendors and third party relationships, and drive process automation, standardization and improvement to ensure process efficiency and effectiveness.  This position will lead a current team of 3 and report directly to the Assistant Controller.

As a Head of Global Payroll, you will: 

  • Develop and drive the vision for the global payroll function, including scale and optimization of administration, processes, and systems to support high growth.
  • Maintain outstanding cross functional relationships; working closely with People Operations, Benefits, Legal, and international service teams.
  • Manage global payroll operations in over 8+ countries, ensuring accurate, timely and efficient payroll processing, compliance with US and foreign regulations and tax requirements.
  • Oversight of payroll related month and quarter-end close activities; including but not limited to understanding payroll GL reporting, journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Improve payroll policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance, efficiency, and standardization across legal entities globally, including design and implementation of SOX controls.
  • Ensure all payroll related tax filings and reports are completed timely and accurately in compliance with local, state, country specific laws and regulations
  • Manage payroll audit enquires requests from both internal and external audit parties. Work with tax agencies and payroll service providers to resolve external tax issues and audits.
  • Remain current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting all domestic and international payrolls.
  • Develop and implement best practices, key performance indicators and SLA metrics for the team.
  • Coach, mentor and provide leadership development to team members.

You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:

  • 10+ years of payroll administration experience in multi-state and international operations, with 3+ years in a global payroll oversight role; 3+ years of people management experience
  • Experience with Workday and ADP
  • Excels in growth environments; versatile, capable of managing multiple projects and able to manage project plans, dependencies, and milestones
  • Experienced in interpreting local and international payroll rules and regulations
  • Effective and concise communicator, with teammates and various levels of leadership as well as external parties
  • Experience implementing payroll in new countries and new jurisdictions
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize where needed
  • Independent thinker with high degree of initiative, judgement, and discretion
