About the Role

Workday is seeking a Head of Global Payroll to join our team! Our employees are at the core of our business which means the ideal candidate has a passion for leading and motivating people, growing talent and building impactful teams. This candidate will also be a self-starter, a great communicator, and will enjoy collaborating with people with a diverse set of talents. The right individual will handle overall operations of payrolls for more than 25 countries using both Workday payroll functionality and third party payroll providers. In doing so, you will be encouraged to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll with strong data integrity. This is a great opportunity to help set a strategic direction for a team, mentor and develop that team, all while helping the team to achieve worthwhile lofty goals! Continual evaluation and evolution of the organization and its processes will be a key to achieving this success. As will be sharing your vision with the team and helping them to see how they can achieve that vision.

Main Responsibilities include and not limited to:

  • Oversee payroll policies, procedures and systems to ensure timely and accurate payment of a global workforce
  • Set global payroll strategy and enable team to execute on that strategy
  • Monitor all payrolls to ensure audit procedures exist to identify risk (both departmental and SOX)
  • Own all key department processes and key controls to ensure risks are identified and the correct controls are in place to eliminate or reduce risk
  • Lead payroll compliance team to ensure compliance with existing and emerging compliance regulations on a global basis
  • Lead payroll mobility team to properly handle withholding and reporting for mobile members of our workforce - including tax equalization, and shadow payrolls
  • Consult with legal and other internal and external advisors on resolution to various situations that arise
  • Ensure strong customer service and communication from payroll to the employee population
  • Collaborate closely with people and purpose team on identification of employee related benefits and execution of changes
  • Establish and manage annual payroll budget
  • Manage vendor relationships with payroll vendors and external consulting firms
  • Provide leadership and career development for the team
  • Engage with Workday customers and prospects to showcase the workday system

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field
  • 10+ Years payroll leadership experience in a high growth public company
  • Experience leading global payroll teams across different time zones and countries

Other Qualifications

  • Experience with several cross-functional payroll projects (working with human resources, benefits, compensation or other teams)
  • Knowledge of accounting, HCM and payroll systems
  • A passion for people, processes, innovation and process improvements
  • Experienced in applying concepts/philosophies for appropriate problem-solving and decision-making
  • Proven ability to be highly collaborative
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, and communication skills
  • Driven to make a positive difference with the team and with the company
  • A track record of transformation with a strategic vision for the team and an ability to execute

Workday Pay Transparency Statement - United States

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate's compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $206,500 - $309,700

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $196,200 - $358,000
