The Head of Product and Vertical Marketing will be responsible for Zayo’s product and industry marketing on a global basis. Working closely with both the Product Management team and the Marketing team, this leader will be a key driver in Zayo’s transformation and growth, through launching new products and solutions; enabling global sales and channel teams; building go-to-market strategies; and evangelizing new innovations with customers and prospects. This role will build, inspire, and manage a team of product and segment marketers.

This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Chief Product Officer.

 

Position Description

  •  Drive end-to-end ownership of Zayo’s product marketing and segment marketing strategic vision and execution in alignment with the Product Management team.

  • Leverage a variety of data sources to understand market trends, customer requirements, and buying behavior to identify market opportunities and customer demand for Zayo’s products, solutions, and services.

  • Provide input and recommendations into product roadmap, strategy, and pricing based on market and customer research finding, industry analyst interactions, and competitive findings.

  • Develop and activate positioning, value propositions, and messaging that differentiate Zayo in the marketplace.

  • Collaborate with other marketing functions such as revenue marketing, corporate marketing, and channel marketing to ensure Zayo’s products, solutions, and services are accurately reflected in programs, campaigns, digital marketing, events, etc.

  • Collaborate with Sales Enablement to educate sellers and channel partners on the value of Zayo’s products and solutions.

  • Educate the market about Zayo’s products and solutions by developing audience-specific and industry vertical-specific content such as white-papers, presentations, blogs, case studies, solution briefs, web content, data sheets, and sales playbooks that can be utilized globally.

  • Build and execute product launch strategies, in partnership with Product Management and Marketing teams.

  • Lead Zayo’s analyst relations strategy and interactions with key industry analyst firms.

  • Lead a product and industry marketing team, setting clear goals and key results and ensuring that those are communicated and visible across the company and progress is shared regularly.

  • Define Product and Vertical Marketing team's strategy, budget, and metrics to build and measure team results.

  • Act as a thought leader and subject matter expert at key industry and customer events. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  •  15 years of experience, including at least 5 years in product marketing.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, marketing, business, or related area; MBA is a plus.

  • Technical background or clear understanding of telecommunications and infrastructure products.

  • Experience supporting an Integrated GTM motions that includes sales, channel, strategic alliances and technology ecosystems.

  • Experience in cross functional areas such as pre-sales, sales, product management or strategy are a plus.

  • Compelling storyteller with a strategic and analytical mindset who can engage and educate customers and prospects. 

  • Ability to translate complex technology concepts into simple and intuitive communications to stakeholders at all levels of the organization—from the technical buyer to the decision maker.

  • History of building trusted relationships with executive sponsors, customers, and analysts.

  • Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive projects and thrive in a fast-paced, transformation-oriented environment.

  • Strong persuasion skills and able to gain consensus through influence.

  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization with a virtual team. 

Base pay range: $182,500-$226,700, commensurate with experience.
