Job Description

About Us

Sage is on a mission to improve the quality of life for older adults, starting with those residing in senior living facilities. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths among adults over 65. At the same time, fall prevention and emergency response systems for older adults are archaic and ineffective. This issue is exacerbated by the inefficient procedures that operators of these facilities are forced to use to provide care to their residents.  Sage's integrated software aims to reinvent how we care for and respond to older adults in times of need.  We aim to build a platform that gives caregivers the means to provide care for modern aging.

Sage is a small, tight team of ambitious, multi-disciplinary entrepreneurs.  We are a software-enabled, mission-driven company, and are focused only on the problems that are central to achieving that mission.  At Sage, we work hard and fast but also know that to build a truly important company, we need to treat our work as a marathon, and not a sprint.  The journey matters.  We know when to slow down, take breaks, and have fun.

About The Role

As the Head of Product Design at Sage, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of eldercare. You will lead the user experience vision and execution for multiple products for older adults, caregivers, and family members. This role includes working both as an individual contributor and leading a small team of designers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of product managers, engineers, and commercial team members to identify user pain points and product opportunities and develop solutions that solve problems and value for users and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of talented product designers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategy Development: Define and drive the product design strategy, aligning it with the company's mission and goals, and ensuring it meets the unique needs of the senior living market.
  • User Research: Champion user-centered design principles, conducting user research, and translating insights into design solutions that enhance the lives of older adults and caregivers.
  • Lead Design Sprints: Organize and facilitate cross functional design sprints aimed at creating and validating solutions to critical problems in a short period of time
  • Design System Development: Maintain a comprehensive design system that ensures consistency and scalability across all product offerings.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and marketing to ensure the successful execution of product design initiatives..
  • Trend Analysis: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in health tech, design, and senior living to inform design decisions.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that design deliverables are of the highest quality, meeting both aesthetic and functional standards.

Qualifications:

  • You embrace a user research-based approach to design. You have experience leading UXR efforts that have resulted in product/feature fit and adoption.
  • Proficiency in design software including Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc
  • Eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to travel domestically for customer visits.
