Job Description
In 1954 Eero Saarinen designed a bank with glass walls no offices and a completely open floor plan in Columbus Indiana. It was surrounded by trees; the furniture was made by Herman Miller; the lobby flooring was thick rustic brick. It was built with transparency and community at its core.
Since then a lot of things have happened—Saarinen’s bank is now a conference center people increasingly live on the internet and it’s hard to think of a single financial institution that still applies design thinking to their company.

We believe that the key to our success revolves around thoughtful design and we’re looking for a design leader who will shape product strategy for our Banking group champion user-centered thinking and nurture a team of designers solving fascinating challenges at the intersection of finance and technology.
You'll join our design organization of 40+ practitioners who thrive on complexity and care deeply about craft collaboration and growing together. Your work will directly influence how 100000+ startups manage their financial operations and fuel their growth.

In this role you’ll:

Shape the future of banking products by driving product strategy alongside our executive team leveraging deep customer insights and market understanding

Navigate complex financial systems and regulations to uncover elegant solutions that make banking more intuitive and delightful

Build and nurture high-performing teams through thoughtful mentorship creating space for growth and innovation

We're looking for someone who:

Has led design teams through complex product challenges particularly in fintech banking or other highly regulated spaces

Brings 8+ years of design leadership experience with a track record of developing both people and products

Demonstrates strategic thinking by identifying opportunities aligning stakeholders and translating vision into actionable plans

Shows genuine care for people's growth with experience providing mentorship that helps designers reach their full potential

Thrives in ambiguous problem spaces and can help teams navigate uncertainty with confidence

Has a keen eye for quality and can articulate feedback that elevates work while building trust

The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary equity (stock options) and benefits.
Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience expertise geographic location and internal pay equity relative to peers.
Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:

US employees (any location): $250700 - $294900

Canadian employees (any location): CAD 228100 - 268400
