As the Head of Product Software Engineering you’ll report to the Chief Product Officer and be responsible for building and operating Zayo’s customer facing digital experience and software enabled product capabilities. This includes managing cross functional, agile teams through our full product software development lifecycle from estimation to delivery as well as having direct report responsibility for the engineering team. To be successful, you will need to collaborate across the organization on everything from roadmap estimation to project execution and delivery.
This role will require a transformational leader with the ability to cast a vision and execute the combining of multiple software teams into a single product software engineering “Center of Excellence” enabling Zayo to more efficiently share software solutions across a wider set of customers and products, accelerating our journey to a common shared “software stack”.
Responsibilities
Lead the software engineering teams responsible for building and operating Zayo’s customer facing digital experience and software enabled product capabilities
Collaborate with Product and IT teams to define the systems vision and architecture
Source, integrate and manage solutions for creating Zayo’s digital experience and product capabilities
Collaborate with Product and cross functional teams teams to translate product vision and requirements into software enabled capabilities within Agile software development framework to improve velocity while maintaining quality and scalability
Drive the cultural changes necessary to enable a continuous delivery model, and foster a strong focus on automation of the SDLC.
Make investment and priority trade-off decisions, negotiating and managing vendor contracts, and recruiting and developing high performing teams
Use data and feedback to drive continuous optimization of cross functional team structures and software development processes
Develop and implement processes for secure coding lifecycle and software deliveryÂ
10+ years experience developing software solutions, with a minimum of 5 years experience leading multiple software development teams in the Telecom industry.Â
Full stack software development experience and capabilities, with a deep networking knowledge base, is required. Experience with network automation, Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), and/or developing solutions that interact with multiple 3rd party network management systems strongly preferred.
Experience successfully implementing and running an Agile environment
Track record of finding the balance between when to be tactical vs. strategic.
Skilled at identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in the full lifecycle of multiple systems, with prior experience in areas such as design, development, configuration, testing, deployment, monitoring and operations.
Highly-collaborative, capable of building strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
Able to roll up their sleeves and play a hands-on role while building a world class team
Proven experience building scalable, efficient, and high performing teams through a combination of on/offshoring and outsourcing
Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly understand complex systems and data
Passion for data driven decision making and continuous process improvement
Base pay range: $175,000-225,000, commensurate with experience.
