WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

As a Head of Public & Private Cloud, you will oversee multiple teams responsible for delivering a compelling user journey to our internal product teams, from design to build to run public & private Cloud solutions. As part of the construction of an SCIB internal platform, the managed services offered to the product teams will include (list not exhaustive) standardized architectural patterns, automated infrastructure and application pipelines, onboarding processes (account creation, credentials, comms setup, etc.), accurate cost estimates, preparation for productive environments, cloud operations and service delivery… 

Those services will, to the extent possible, be consumed by the product teams on a fully digitalized and self-service basis. In particular, this will be achieved by leveraging capabilities from other SCIB platform teams as well as Santander Global T&O platform teams.

Success will be measured through outcome-based criteria such as

• levels of adoption and satisfaction in the product teams
• reductions of cognitive load in product teams
• acceleration of product development and delivery / reduction in lead times
• cost-efficiency and productive use of services
• More effective governance and compliance, enforced security best practices by design

We need someone like you to help us in different fronts:

• Strategic Planning and Execution:
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the SCIB internal cloud platform, aligning it with the organization’s goals.
  • Oversee the prioritization of the function’s transformation backlog and secure funding from key stakeholders.
  • Oversee the configuration of this new unit from the reorganization of existing teams.

• Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead and manage cloud dedicated teams, ensuring they deliver high-quality platform services as per success criteria.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.

• Supervision of cloud architecture, engineering, operations & service delivery:
  • Oversee the user journey of cloud solutions, ensuring they meet business requirements.
  • In particular:
    • Oversee the development of the Cloud platform services dedicated architectural patterns, from the original MVP to a fully-featured service that cater for 80% of product teams’ needs. Ensure that the patterns are selected and developed in accordance with the product teams’ feedback.
    • Supervise the execution of the designs and enablement of pipelines (both infrastructure & code), specific to the domain needs. In accordance with Group T&O model, this will require the effective supervision of DevOps engineers currently assigned to the Business Domains.
    • Ensure that infrastructures are prepared for productive environments, this includes resiliency and security reqs.
    • Optimization of infrastructure during product lifecycle and across domains
    • Ensure service levels in production, supported by monitoring & observability / SRE
  • Oversee the progressive digitalization of administrative and operational processes associated with the Cloud journey.
  • Manage FinOps to optimize cloud costs and ensure financial efficiency.

• Monitoring and Evolution:
  • Implement robust monitoring and reporting systems to track the performance and health of cloud platforms, leveraging on existing capabilities.
  • In collaboration with CTO, drive the evolution of cloud services, incorporating new technologies and best practices to enhance platform capabilities.
  • Ensure that UX, and in particular DevEx, is fully considered as part of the Cloud platform’s evolution.

• Compliance and Security:
  • Ensure all cloud solutions comply with internal policies, industry standard, and regulatory requirements, in particular those established by the CTO and CISO teams.
  • Implement and maintain strong security practices to protect data and infrastructure.

• Stakeholder Management:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for cloud journeys for product teams and business stakeholders, ensuring their requirements and expectations are met.
  • Set up continuous feedback mechanisms with product teams and to ensure adequate measurement of success criteria KPIs.
  • Interact with relevant services in Group T&O to ensure SCIB’s needs are well covered.

• Process and Guideline Development:
  • In collaboration with CTO, CDO and CISO, establish and maintain guidelines and best practices for cloud solution design, architecture, and operations.
  • Ensure documentation is comprehensive, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE

• Extensive (>10 years) experience in cloud platform management, including both public and private cloud environments.
• Proven track record in leading and managing multiple technical teams.
• Strong background in cloud architecture, design, and operations.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

• In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and private cloud technologies.
• Proficiency in cloud financial management (FinOps) and cost optimization strategies.
• Experience with monitoring tools and security practices in cloud environments.
• Certification in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
• Experience in managing large-scale cloud transformation projects.
• Knowledge of compliance standards and security frameworks relevant to cloud computing.
