Head of Security Engineering

Babylon's mission is to bring Bitcoin’s unparalleled security to the decentralized world via a new public Cosmos-SDK PoS blockchain (Babylon) and a suite of inter-chain protocols.

Security of the protocols developed at Babylon is of paramount significance, as they will serve as the backbone for an unprecedented shared economy powered by Bitcoin. We are looking for a highly experienced security professional who is paranoid about loopholes and attack vectors at all fronts in decentralized protocols to lead our effort in securing Bitcoin staking technologies we develop. This role requires independent thinking and execution, while coordinating with the research and engineering team members to achieve the security objectives.

What You'll Do:

• Be the owner of security of all technologies, protocols, and products developed by the team, including potential attack vectors in algorithms, cryptography, code, and deployments.

• Establish overall security objectives and lead the planning and execution to achieve them

• Identify external security researchers and work closely with them for security review and analysis

• Coordinate with the engineering team to establish best security practices in software development cycles

• Create product launch plans and approve feature rollout based on security considerations

About You:

As an experienced security professional, you have seen enough past incidents to understand how important yet how challenging it is to secure decentralized protocols. You are paranoid about anything that might give attackers an edge, yet you are capable of translating all your security concerns into actionable countermeasures. You understand that security needs to be baked into the culture of the team and you are passionate in championing that.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum of 8 years experience in hands-on security analysis and vulnerability discovery for blockchains or DeFi protocols.

• Good understanding of smart contract languages and their semantics.

• Good understanding of operational security and security best practices.

• A track record in identifying past critical vulnerabilities is a strong plus.

• Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and effective collaboration across global teams.
