SUMMARYÂ
The Head of Software Engineering will join the Technology team in a dynamic and growing Alternative Investments firm with a strong technology focus. Technology plays a critical role at GCM Grosvenor, enabling our team members to make timely, data-driven decisions in support of our clients. The technology we create enables our team to deploy $76B+ in the most efficient, intelligent, risk-managed way. Now is an exciting time to join the firm and the Alts industry as a technology leader. We are moving past Excel, building modern data infrastructure on which AI-enabled solutions can be built or deployed which will contribute to the next phase of growth. Â
The Head of Software Engineering will have several teams reporting up through this role. We organize our teams functionally, with each team aligning to a different business function(s). Together these teams are approximately 30 engineers. This role is a member of the technology leadership team and is accountable for all software engineering efforts. This person is looked to as the authority on the software we write, the languages we develop in, and the engineering principles we follow. We are seeking a richly technical leader. A software engineer turned leader who knows how to balance leading teams with mentorship. We leverage cloud native technologies (where possible / practical) to drive the execution of both greenfield projects and projects extending the capabilities of our existing platforms and systems. We have a strong and evolving use of cloud-based, serverless, distributed technologies. We have embraced and continue to embrace no-code/low code solutions and have started our AI solution development and adoption. We have a DevOps culture with a strong focus on automation, testability, and maintainability. The ideal candidate should enjoy working with optimized development processes in an environment that leverages SRE practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery.Â

RESPONSIBILITIES Â
The person in this role will be responsible for the following critical activities:Â
- Develop and manage our existing technical talent and participate in the recruitment of additional engineering team membersÂ
- Provide thought leadership and oversee the creation of scalable, performant cloud-native platformsÂ
- Champion our Agile Scrum approach, orchestrating practical changes / refinement where necessaryÂ
- Be a “player-coach”; the opportunity will be there for you to roll up your sleeves and contribute (up to 20% of your time could be in delivery)Â

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSÂ
The ideal experience and critical competencies for this role include the following:Â
- 8+ years’ experience with Microsoft .NET/C#, including modern versions of .NETÂ
- 4+ years’ team lead/engineering management experience Â
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiencesÂ
- Mastery understanding of object-oriented design and development principlesÂ
- Experience working in Agile development environment with strong engineering principles (e.g., Scrum)Â Â
- Experience with serverless technologies such as Azure Functions or AWS Lambda Â
- Experience with continuous integration/deployment tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions Â
- Experience with automated testing based development processes, including unit and acceptance level testingÂ
- Understanding of relational, non-relational, and unstructured database design and development using platforms such as SQL Azure, Microsoft Fabric, & NoSQL solutions (e.g., MongoDB, CosmosDB)Â Â
- Experience with message-based and OpenAPI REST-based integration Â
- Ability to adapt within a rapidly changing environmentÂ
- Attention to detail and concern for quality and accuracy of final productÂ
- Demonstrated team player, self-starter, leader and independent thinkerÂ
- Outstanding problem solving and decision-making skillsÂ
- Experience in a security driven culture having successfully partnered with cybersecurity to create DevSecOpsÂ
- Experience in highly regulated industry such as Financial Services a strong plusÂ
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, relevant work experienceÂ
