Head of Software Engineering

About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional full stack scientific software engineer with experience in image analysis, cloud development, and data visualization. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the development of robust software packages and tools that perform key functions in Protillion’s technology platform, expanding and improving existing software currently in use to better meet the needs and future goals of the company.
• Participate in discussions with other experimental and computational scientists about the function and architecture of these software tools, bringing experience and expertise to bear on creating the best solutions.

Requirements:

• BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field with demonstrated proficiency in the development of scientific tools, software packages, and pipelines.
• A minimum of 2-5 years of development experience in a biotechnology (or similar) environment.
• Excellent track record of tools development for challenges involving image analyses.
• AWS cloud computing infrastructure skills.
• A working knowledge of biostatistics, including the propagation and reporting of error.

Also advantageous:

• Familiarity with next-generation sequencing technologies e.g. base calling algorithms
• Track record of publication
