Head of Strategic Finance

Trellis is looking for a Head of Strategic Finance to help take the company to the next level. The opportunity is perfect for an analytical finance expert that wants to get their hands dirty working in the business, not just on the business.

The Head of Strategic Finance will play a hands-on role, working cross-functionally to identify and capture value opportunities. They will drive operational changes that create tangible value and fuel Trellis’ growth.

You’ll partner with business development to refine our approach to revenue sharing agreements with existing and new partners. With product, engineering and other teams to evaluate and prioritize  initiatives based on ROI. And with consumer operations to develop capacity and compensation models. Finally, you’ll take ownership of company-level forecasting and support our investor relations efforts.

• Work across the entire business, with teams like business development, product, engineering and consumer operations
• Use data analysis and financial modeling to guide key business decisions
• Implement frameworks for ROI-based resource allocation and tracking
• Build company-level financial forecasts
• Refine financial and KPI reporting for senior management and the board
• Support or lead fundraising efforts and work closely with existing and prospective investors

• 6+ years professional experience in a high performance environment
• Investment banking, private equity or strategic finance experience at an early stage startup are excellent foundations
• Top tier financial modeling abilities; bespoke models that capture business-specific inputs and outputs; 3 statement and LBO models aren’t useful here
• Strategic orientation to use insight from models and analysis to design initiatives that will drive tangible business results
• Experience taking an ambiguous problem, independently crafting a work plan around it, and executing against that plan for 3-4 weeks at a time
• Adaptability and empathy to build rapport with individuals in diverse functional areas and develop a deep understanding of their world
• Striking attention to detail

• Startup and insurance experience are nice, but not required – if you’re curious, humble and hard working you will excel in this role
• Experience with Looker or SQL (at the very least a willingness to learn)
