Head of Technology Platforms

Scribe Therapeutics is a molecular engineering company focused on creating best-in-class in vivo therapies that permanently treat the underlying cause of disease. Founded by CRISPR inventors and leading molecular engineers Benjamin Oakes, Brett Staahl, David Savage, and Jennifer Doudna, Scribe is overcoming the limitations of current genome editing technologies by developing custom engineered enzymes and delivery modalities as part of a proprietary, evergreen CRISPR by Design™ platform for CRISPR-based genetic medicine.

We are seeking a highly creative, passionate, and motivated individual to join us in our quest to develop the next generation of CRISPR-based therapeutics. The current role is for a Head of Technology Platforms to join our team and advance our platform. The candidate should have a passion for working collaboratively with biologists and bioengineers to enable building the necessary tools for meeting the new frontier of CRISPR-based therapeutics. The candidate would be responsible for leading a team focused on building and developing multiple wet and dry platform technologies. Specifically, they will have oversight over the Next Generation and Single Cell Sequencing teams, Genotoxicity, High-throughput and automation, Data Science and Bioinformatics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Grow, Manage and Lead an array of teams that include biologists, engineers, and data scientists in continuing to develop approaches and solutions that improve and accelerate Scribe’s drug creation processes using Deep sequencing and Single Cell Sequencing, the high throughput automation of biology, and biochemistry, as well as the quantitative statistical analysis of data including the application of AI/ML with the goal of consistently delivering high-quality biological data at an unprecedented scale.
• Innovate in the areas of core sequencing technology, automation, high throughput approaches to modeling complex molecules, human disease biology, and continue the development of platforms that underpin Scribe’s drug creation engine
• Be responsible for the establishment of an operating model for data governance, including roles and responsibilities (such as governing body, data stewardship, and data custodians), standards, policies, and procedures.
• Manage and govern biological data as a corporate asset and provide timely, accurate, consistent, and complete data across the enterprise and to business partners. Enable the usage of enterprise information and analytics to render insights for decision making, automating research and asset decisions, and the overall augmentation of scientific performance
• Serve as chief spokesperson for your function, internally and externally translating the company science into understandable concepts for diverse audiences, ranging from funding, industry, and business partners to highly technical internal scientists and advisors
• Partner with other leaders across Platform, Discovery, CMC, Development as well as business functions to deliver on our company mission and strategy
• Nurture, Inspire and develop our scientific Talent into world-class drug developers and strategic leaders at the intersection of operational excellence and cutting edge science & technology
• Identify and advances new technologies that continue to position Scribe as an industry leader
• Effectively collaborate with members within a fully integrated team to facilitate execution on projects within established timelines
• Foster a driven, fast-paced, dynamic, and fun environment in which to do rigorous science

• Demonstrated ability to lead and influence as a senior leader in a fast-paced, innovative organization. Prior experience as an executive in a biotechnology, healthcare or life science technology platform company is highly desirable
• A background in Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or related field and at least 10 years of experience working across multiple relevant functions such as Sequencing, Data science, Computation. Systems engineering, high throughput laboratory automation, research biology, and/or drug discovery
• Proven experience running and scaling high throughput laboratory operations, direct experience in Data science, Bioinformatics, AI/ML, next-generation sequencing, single-cell sequencing, high-throughput cell culture and or pooled screening and data and compound management is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to align on the tactics and strategies needed for successful operations, influence cross-functionally, and promote accountability in a positive and efficacious manner
• The ability to translate an innovative technology vision into operational reality
• Experience developing and implementing efficient and effective operational strategies
• Proven leader with experience recruiting and managing high-performing teams and a reputation for maximizing and growing talent
• Proven leader with experience influencing at an executive level and translating high level vision and strategy into action across a multi-discipline, multi-layer matrixed organization
• Excellent organizational, planning, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated quantitative and scientific thinker as evidenced by a strong publication record
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research team

• Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and therapeutic approaches
• Familiarity with protein or RNA structure and engineering approaches
