Health Data Engineer - Contract

We are seeking a senior level contractor with a strong healthcare claims background along with deep experience in SQL and Python programming languages. The primary focus of this role is to both maintain and contribute technical solutions to improve Nuna’s Common Data Model enabling our enterprise platform. This is a highly technical position that will require the individual to learn Nuna specific processes and the underlying data that we ingest from our customers ensuring that we have accurate source to target mapping for our downstream processes. The individual in this role will need to be comfortable handling ambiguous data requirements and proposing solutions. 

• Contribute towards building a common data model enabling Nuna’s value platform

• Collaborate with software engineers and product managers

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working with healthcare claims data (OMOP, FHIR, CMS 1500, UB-04, Prescription Drugs/Rx), provider/member benefit hierarchy constructs and aggregation of healthcare metrics (such as PMPM/Util per 1k etc.)
• Experience with semantic representations of healthcare data e.g. CPT/HCPCS, ICD, DRG
• Technical software development  in Python, SQL, Spark, Git Integration and testing frameworks
• Experience with data testing concepts (regression tests, unit tests, integration tests, comparative analyses etc.) and the ability to consistently apply them
• Experience rapidly prototyping new data product concepts, especially for enterprise clients and documenting technical specifications
• Strong oral and written communication skills, keen attention to detail and deadline driven

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in any qualification
• Experience with data schema representations, e.g. avro, json, pyschema
• Experience with code/data testing frameworks, e.g. pytest, great expectations
• Experience working in a cross-collaborative team leveraging agile principles
