Summary
This position is in the National Nuclear Security Administration, Los Alamos Field Office, within the Assistant Manager for Field Operations, Safety Team. The incumbent serves as a Health Physicist with responsibility for administration and oversight of the radiation protection program and health physics functions associated with facilities and operations at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

- Must be able to obtain certification in the DOE's Technical Qualification Program (TQP) within 18 months of start date. Qualifications
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e. EN-00, or GS-11. Specialized experience is defined as assessing contractor program effectiveness and compliance, and to establish methods to anticipate and prevent occupational health disorders or property damage arising from the use of radiological materials.
Examples of specialized experience includes:
EN-1306-03
- Participating in matters involving Radiological Protection Programs of special nuclear materials for processes, storage, transportation, waste handling, and production activities.
- Participating in evaluations of radiological protection programs and health physics to determine whether the program complies with applicable codes, standards, guides, regulations, Orders, and accepted practices.
EN-1306-04 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., EN-03, or GS-13. Specialized experience is defined as authoritative expertise as a management advisor and manage a federal program designed to assess contractor program effectiveness and compliance, and to establish methods to anticipate and prevent occupational health disorders or property damage arising from the use of radiological materials.
Examples of specialized experience includes:

Education
Degree: natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus.

Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A.
