Studs is an experiential retail and e-commerce brand that has re-imagined the ear piercing experience by offering consultative and expert needle piercing services, combined with a wide assortment of accessibly priced, on-trend earrings.
Based in New York, NY, the HR Associate will support each member of the People Team in its mission to provide a superb employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle for Studs retail and corporate employees. These responsibilities will include assisting with talent acquisition, pre-employment screens, verifying employment status/I-9 verification, onboarding and offboarding, maintaining People Team records and files, maintaining ADP Workforce Now, generating reports for the People Team and other departments and payroll support.
Salary Range: $65,000 - $90,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with talent acquisition process including maintaining Greenhouse and sending offer letters, pre-employment screens for new hires through Checkr and verification of employment status/I-9 verification for all new hires
- Support onboarding and offboarding, including extensive use of ADP Workforce Now and other HR systems for employee account generation and deactivation, promotions, job changes, transfers and separations
- Process invoices as necessary including for temporary employees, contractors and benefits, and audit and code all benefits bills as necessary
- Generate standard and requested People Team reports including headcount, payroll and personnel changes
- Assist with workplace events, fostering a positive employee culture and the implementation of projects and new programs as needed
- Run process for new hire gifts, employee anniversary gifts, and other similar programs
- Become knowledgeable about Studs policies and procedures, and the Studs employee handbook, as it relates to employee questions and employee relations matters
- Maintain all People Team records and employee personnel files
- Support the management of miscellaneous issues such as garnishments, reporting to federal or state agencies (such as the Bureau of Labor Statistics) and workers’ compensation claims
- Assist with COVID-related policies and stay up-to-date on any changes in employer requirements
- Support other members of the People Team as needed
Requirements:
- 2+ years of relevant human resources experience
- Prior experience at a retail organization is preferred
- Experience with G-suite, ADP Workforce Now, Checkr and Greenhouse is a plus
- Strong team-oriented and employee-first mindset
- Excellent customer experience skills
- Superb written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Owner’s mindset, with the ability to approach feedback and problems with a positive attitude
- Be a team player who rolls up their sleeves and takes on additional responsibilities, while also being comfortable working independently and thinking strategically
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
- Confidence to ask questions or be proactive in research when you aren’t sure how to deal with a problem
