Job Description

*This position is onsite at our New Rochelle, NY office 5x a week.

Position Purpose:

The Human Resources Director will be an integral part of Human Resources team and will work in tandem with the Chief Human Resources Officer to manage the day-to-day functions of the HR department, including, but not limited to operations, benefits and leaves administration, analytics, employee engagement, performance management, compliance, employee relations, learning and development, et al.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Operations

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of employee related policies and procedures.
  • Make recommendations for HR functional areas and update/automate procedures and workflow where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance for jurisdictions throughout the US with federal, state, and local legal requirements, monitoring new legislation, and advising on necessary actions and related protocols.
  • Coordinate and liaise with payroll department on relevant changes (new hires, terms, promotions, transfers, etc.)
  • Manage and coordinate visa process (H-1B, F-1, Green cards, etc.)
  • Provide project management on select initiatives.
  • Coordinate with CHRO on special projects as needed.

HR Analytics

  • Prepare and analyze HR related data, identifying trends and leveraging industry best practices.
  • Coordinate with CHRO and technology to expand & enhance HRIS capabilities for optimizing reporting and employee experience/interface.

Benefits and Leaves Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day administration of benefits and leaves programs; assisting in benefits renewal meetings and plan negotiations (i.e., health and dental plans, flexible spending, STD/LTD, Life insurance, 401(k)); managing the 401(k) audit; administering leaves of absence, etc.
  • Create employee wellness and benefit related communications.
  • Research current industry trends and make recommendations to improve/enhance company benefit programs.

Talent Engagement

  • Champion and identify opportunities to enhance company culture for remote, hybrid, and in-person workforce.
  • Draft relevant employee communications and engagement surveys
  • Assist in coordination and management of on-site and virtual employee initiatives.
  • Liaise with employees and managers on employee relations matters and advise and investigate as necessary.

Performance and Development

  • Liaise with CHRO and managers to establish and maintain consistent onboarding programs and trainings for new hires; conduct new hire orientations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of performance discussions and help to formalize career progression plans.
  • Liaise with department heads to develop learning pathways and relevant training initiatives.
  • Assist in formation of succession planning process.

Job Requirements / Skills & Experiences:

  • 7+ years in a prior human resources generalist position
  • Strong experience in all HR disciplines
  • Strong analytical skills (creation and manipulation of reports)
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and prioritize accordingly.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to navigate internal and external relationships.
  • Strong project management skills / able to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Experience with self-funded insurance a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ADP Workforce Now (or applicable platforms)
  • Experience in publishing or educational publishing a plus
