Bellwether Asset Management, Inc. (“BWAM”) is a privately held firm located in Los Angeles, CA, specializing in the management, analysis and reporting of over $21 billion of AUM across a wide range of real-estate related assets and corporate platforms in the United States, Europe and Asia.

About the Job

The HR Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department, ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. This includes administration of onboarding/offboarding, benefits, performance management and training, as well as supporting culture initiatives. This role will be responsible to review policies and practices for compliance, to enforce company policies and practices and to maintain accurate employee records.

Responsibilities

Benefit Administration & Compliance

  • Manage all benefits and 401k plans, including becoming SME on plan details, acting as system administrator, managing plan and enrollment changes, answering employee questions, and ensuring accurate record-keeping;
  • Manage monthly billing activities and review regular data feeds;
  • Support benefit compliance activities, including maintaining a tracker of compliance items, preparing and reviewing data, and planning and organizing as necessary to meet compliance deadlines;
  • Partner with broker and utilize available resources to adequately address benefit issues and inquiries;
  • Administer Open Enrollment; and
  • Support the Head of HR with benefit-related activities, as needed.

Performance Management and Recognition/Rewards

  • Manage Performance Review process, including updating employee data in the system, preparing materials, providing training, handling communication and following-up as needed to ensure timely completion;
  • Assist with goal creation and review;
  • Assist with recognition and rewards programs, as needed.

Training and Development

  • Manage and maintain training rosters;
  • Manage training records to ensure employee attendance where required and accurate and timely record keeping;
  • Manage training calendar for US, ensuring courses are scheduled in line with L&D requirements & strategy;
  • Manage staff communications pertaining to training events as required; and
  • Assist in the review of annual training and development activities to determine success and areas for improvement.

Miscellaneous HR Activities

  • Maintain employment and confidential files to ensure organization, compliance and confidentiality;
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding and all employee life cycle activities as needed;
  • Manage HRIS data input and provide support and guidance to employees related to relevant HRIS processes;
  • Manage payroll, including collection of payroll forms, preparation of payroll registry and submitting payroll for approval;
  • Administer time-keeping system, train employees, and ensure accurate and compliant time-keeping records;
  • Assist with new-state setup, including tax, benefit and policy compliance procedures;
  • Maintain local and multi-state compliance postings, forms and pamphlets;
  • Provide recommendations to improve process efficiency where able;
  • Manage contractor and vendor setup as needed;
  • Assist with philanthropy and health and wellness campaigns including planning, coordination and execution;
  • Assist with social event planning, coordination and execution, when needed.

Qualifications

BWAM seeks to hire entrepreneurial individuals who are highly motivated, mature and intelligent, with demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Human Resources Coordinator or similar role required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of CA employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP a plus.

  • Active Asset Management Support: The team works closely with Acquisition Teams to help monitor all strategic and joint-venture operating partners on a day-to-day basis. Responsibilities include weekly leasing calls, monthly operations reviews, annual budget and business plan reviews and financial analysis; and
  • Investment- and Fund-level Reforecasting: BWAM is responsible for creating proprietary investment-level valuation models for the portfolio to enhance our ability to reforecast investment-and fund-level performance on a routine basis.
