HR Generalist
Job Description
- Support project work in any number of other areas, including total rewards, L&D, talent acquisition and development, DEIB, events and special programs for both US and Canada people operations
- Act as an initial point of contact for a wide range of questions covering topics like benefits, visas, onboarding and offboarding, orientation events, new hires and HR systems
- Execute HR operational processes and services with a focus on employee experience and data integrity
- Partner with key vendors in benefits and immigration, managing relationships and ensuring we are adapting our benefits to the market and the needs of our employees
- Managing leave of absence and paid parental leave programs
- In partnership with legal and other people operations colleagues, support occasional employee relations investigations
- Budget tracking and reporting
- Bring a DEIB lens to all conversations and decisions to continue building a thoughtful and inclusive culture
- Eye for compliance - SOX and ISO reporting
- Global workforce enablement
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of relevant experience in a people operations role
- Experience leading and implementing a benefits strategy
- Strong understanding of legal and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of HR systems (Sapling preferred)
- Experience with (and excited by) researching and implementing new HRIS systems as company needs grow and change
- Experience in a rapidly growing startup (ideally Series B)
- Passionate about staying in-the-know in a rapidly changing market with regards to compensation planning, remote-based initiatives, and talent management

Descript HQ is in San Francisco, and our AI research team, Lyrebird, is based in Montreal.
