As a key member of the MAX HR Service Center Team this role supports the day-to-day operations in managing the employee life cycle from hire to termination. This role will also have a specific focus on immigration. Works closely with subject matter experts and centers of excellence, to understand immigration and support the employee through their experience with Allison by providing professional HR guidance and support.

Job Title:
HR Specialist
Job Description:
As a key member of the MAX HR Service Center Team this role supports the day-to-day operations in managing the employee life cycle from hire to termination. This role will also have a specific focus on immigration. Works closely with subject matter experts and centers of excellence, to understand immigration and support the employee through their experience with Allison by providing professional HR guidance and support.
Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and accurate communications and responses to inquiries for employees, managers and the HR Organization.
- Managing the day-to-day transactional execution of employee queries; you will review, analyze, and apply company policies to determine a resolution while partnering with relevant internal departments and 3rd Party Vendors for a seamless delivery.
- Organize and administer workflow to comply with our customer's requests in the turnaround time established
- Responsible for daily HR administration throughout the entire employee life cycle.
- Data entry, maintaining accurate HR records in the HRIS system.
- Works within the HRIS system to hire employees, interns, and contingent workers.
- Support HR business partners and COE's with HRIS transactions
- Processes, tracks, verifies, and maintains personnel related documentation which may include on-boarding, new hire, and termination documentation.
- Collaborates across HR and with other functional groups to ensure alignment and integration on HR's operational processes.
- Conducts research to evolve best practices and recommends solutions to improve procedures and increase efficiencies
- Participates in HR projects in support of the global HR goals.
- Be a superuser of Workday and appropriate systems and interfaces with Payroll, SharePoint, T&A systems to ensure that all relevant information is captured, accurate, and available to the business.
Immigration duties:
- Manage immigration cases in partnership with legal counsel, including new petitions, visa transfers, amendments, and extensions.
- Prepare all invitation letters.
- Initiate, review, gather appropriate information, get internal approvals, and monitor immigration cases.
- Organize and distribute information from immigration counsel into easily understandable action items for employees and managers.
- Educate and inform employees, managers, and HR business partners on North American immigration concerns, strategies, and guidelines.
- Assist Talent Acquisition Team with potential visa options and challenges for potential new hires.
- Update and maintain visa tracker to include work permits and social insurance numbers to ensure we are compliant with all government immigration standards etc.
- Track immigration costs and work with counsel to achieve efficiencies .
- Maintain all immigration compliance records, including LCA, and PERM records plus LMIAs and Work Permits.
- Assists with review and improvement of immigration process and procedures.
- Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 2+ years HR employee engagement experience preferred
- HRIS (Workday) and ServiceNow experience preferred
- Immigration experience preferred
- Experience working in a fast-paced professional corporate environment and passionate about representing the employment brand of an organization.
- Passion for providing exceptional customer service in daily interactions
- Strong administration skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and competing priorities - self starter
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint)
- Clear and effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships
