The HR Coordinator will be working at one of our larger bakeries in North Sioux City, SD. The plant is 350k sq. ft. and operates 8 highly automated production lines. At this plant, we produce cookies for multiple customers; including the Girl Scouts, Kroger, Walmart and many others. This facility has two unions, the BCTGM and Teamsters. Nestled between the curves of the Missouri River and the banks of McCook Lake, North Sioux City is at the intersection of commerce, recreation, and small town living with big city attractions.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced HR Coordinator to join our team. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, event planning and facilitation, office management, filing and document management, responding to benefits inquiries, and setting up for and facilitating new hire orientations and round table events.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Respond to internal and external benefits related inquiries or requests and provide assistance.
  • Plan and administer yearly benefits open enrollment and employee engagement projects.
  • Maintain records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are met.
  • Support the recruitment/hiring process by sourcing candidates, performing background and drug checks, assisting in shortlisting, issuing employment contracts etc.
  • Plan and facilitate meetings, training sessions, interviews, HR events etc. and maintain the team's agenda.
  • Perform orientations and round tables and update records with new hires.
  • Manage the office cleaning, uniforms, and document shredding contracts with third parties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Proven experience as an HR coordinator or relevant human resources/administrative position.
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices.
  • Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Aptitude in problem-solving.
  • Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM certifications preferred.
