Job Description

The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and onboards new employees. Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Completes any required background checks including fingerprinting, Motor Vehicle Check (NDR), Pilot Records (PRIA/ PRD), criminal record checks (CHRC) and prior drug testing records for safety sensitive employees.
  • Manages the pre-employment drug testing and random testing programs.
  • Coordinates any special background checks per base specific requirements or customer needs often partnering with associates in Dispatch or Operations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Process COBRA notices upon employee terminations.
  • Updates employee information in accordance with policies in NATA.
  • Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Maintains individuals Workers' Compensation files and follows up on any claims.
  • Monitors and completes annual reporting and posting per OSHA requirements.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Reviews benefit invoices and confirm accurate information is sent to accounting.
  • Leads open enrollment process for benefits for medical, dental, vision, life, FSA and 401K plans.
  • Conducts benefits testing as required, including but not limited to compiling census information and plan non-discrimination testing.
  • Assists Payroll in gathering information for processing data as needed.
  • Coordinates the creation and updating of employee ID badges with IT and manages pilots KCM access/ badges.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Attend job fairs and career events.
  • Creates and post information and events on social media for the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Experience with Puerto Rican employment laws would be helpful.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems. Experience with ADP Workforce is a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of five years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
