We are seeking a Human Resource/Payroll Coordinator to join our corporate office team to support the mission of our Company. The Human Resource/Payroll Coordinator aids with and facilitates the human resource and payroll processes of the business. This role provides administrative support to the human resource and payroll function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry and well as direct employee support.

This position requires the candidate to work from our Reston, VA office during normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm) and will report to the Director of Human Resources. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with full benefits including accrued paid time off, paid holidays, medical, HSA, dental, vision, and 401(k) with company match. Company offers remote work 2 days per week after the initial training period has been completed and employee can independently complete tasks.

Salary range: $55,000-$65,000 annually, based on applicable experience. Anticipated start date: May 2023.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits and leave; onboarding; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  2. Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation through Company HRIS and other internal systems.
  3. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  4. Handles employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  5. Provides administrative support to the HR and accounting departments.
  6. Assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, and fixing processing errors.
  7. Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee engagement events and holiday parties.
  8. Manages company swag inventory and repurchasing, including assisting with new employee and current employee swag ordering process.
  9. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  10. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  11. Participates as needed in special department projects.
  12. Responsible for the day-to-day facilities operations and office security (such as distributing access badges and running badging logs).
  13. Acts as the back-up for the administrative duties covered by the Receptionist position in the office, including catering orders and office upkeep.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Associates degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
  3. Two years office experience with at least one year of human resources experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  2. Two plus years of human resources experience preferred.
  3. At least one year of payroll experience preferred.
  4. Paylocity HRIS experience a plus.
  5. aPHR, SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus.
