Job Description
SMX is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Assistant to join our team. Under general supervision, the HR Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative support to the daily operations within the HR team. The candidate must be comfortable working within a fast-paced environment and be flexible to change. The HR Assistant is responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of human resource systems, data, processes, policies and procedures. The successful candidate will provide customer-focused and effective human resource support while working closely with various departments throughout the enterprise to enable achievement of organizational goals and objectives. The HR Assistant reports directly to the HR Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Responsible for the onboarding of newly hired employees.
- Responsible for the Form I-9 and E-verify process using the onboarding portal.
- Providing notifications for in-processing and out-processing employees.
- Preparation of out-processing paperwork for terminating employees.
- Conducting weekly new hire orientation briefings in coordination with other team members and executive leadership.
- Processing and tracking certification and tuition reimbursement requests.
- Assisting with the company background and drug testing screening process using an online portal.
- Assisting with employment verifications submitted by outside agencies.
- Creating, filing, and maintaining employee and confidential files.
- Coordinate with Employee Engagement Specialist and other HR Assistants within the enterprise in planning monthly HR events.
- May attend conferences, seminars, and webinars to keep current on human resources issues and trends that may affect the organization.
- Responsible processing help desk tickets
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
- US citizenship required for work under DoD contracts.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite and Microsoft Teams
- Organization, attention to detail, meticulous documentation, management of document filing and tracking systems.
- Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills to include multi-tasking.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
- Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in a DoD environment
- Experience with ADP
- Experience with Costpoint
- Experience working with SharePoint
