JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: Regional Human Resources Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: Receptionist / Human Resources Assistant

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

ROLE

The Human Resource Coordinator is responsible for all human resource functions for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. This is a highly collaborative position requiring strong organizational, follow up and communication skills. The ability to cultivate relationships with corporate and manufacturing teams, vendors and customers is essential in the achievement of company, facility, and individual objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, employee relations, benefits administration, and other HR related functions.
  • Work with Regional HR Manager to provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, to include recruitment, interviewing, hiring and on-boarding of qualified job applicants for all positions in the facility.

    • Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
    • Establish standardize candidate selection processes
    • Ensure all available positions are posted within and outside of the organization
    • Determine the appropriate use of placement agencies to achieve staffing targets, address attendance concerns and maintain key positions filled.
    • Identifying qualified candidates for all positions
    • Participating in the interview process and scheduling/coordinating additional interviews, plant tours as needed.
    • Preparing and sending offer letters
    • Coordinating pre-employment requirements and ensuring completion thereof.
    • Conducting and coordinating new employee orientations

  • Lead the performance management process to ensure:

    • Timely administration of merit and/or cost of living increases.
    • Progressive disciplinary action or performance improvement plans are administered in conjunction with company policies and in an effort to modify behaviors.
  • Champion available benefits offering through coordination with the Corporate Benefits team

    • Lead the benefits open-enrollment process
    • Ensure employees understand and complete all required activities
    • Employee education as related to changes in options
  • Assist in establishing pay and wage structures through:

    • Identifying and making recommendations to ensure pay practices are transparent and equitable through all levels of the organization
    • Conduct wage analysis and provide data to determine salary ranges relevant to the geographic area
  • Oversee timely payroll management for weekly and semi-monthly payroll cycles

    • Ensure that all changes in status, such as: pay rate changes, reporting structure, job titles, departments, shifts, etc. are processed
    • Ensure personal data changes, such as: state and federal taxes; employee contact information and direct deposit changes
    • Coordinate with Managers and Supervisor to ensure timecards are finalized and approved
  • Case management to ensure proper handling of all employee's leave of absence, disability and request for reasonable accommodations for personal and/or workers compensation related topics.
  • Responsible for planning and execution of Employee Appreciation programs/events
  • Directly supervise a Receptionist/Human Resource Assistant.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to disseminate information in a timely and diplomatic manner.

  • Communicate regularly and pro-actively with all levels of employee regarding problems or issues.
  • Ability to establish and build relationships with internal/external customers.
  • Ability to utilize professional negotiations skills and training.
  • Strong record keeping, management of change, and training skills will be key in successfully implementing a consistent program across all facilities.
  • Strong abilities in management of change.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and delegate responsibility

Efficiency:

  • Demonstrate ability to initiate and perform root cause analysis and implement corrective action to drive improvement.
  • Able to maintain and analyze data record in support of established HR metrics.

Compliance Regulatory:

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Knowledge of food safety requirements including SQF and GMP.
  • Maintain required records and documentation, as related to materials and supplies, for internal/external audit requirements including customer specific audits.

Safety:

  • Demonstrated ability to comply with all Company policies and procedures and to uphold, support and exemplify the safety programs and standards.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing human resource experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to establish and maintain a positive employee culture.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to be able to train, communicate, and lead effectively.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with payroll systems.

ADA - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to:

  • Work an 8-hour shift with overtime as required.
  • Sit constantly, stand and/or walk frequently
  • Speak and hear constantly
  • Use of fingers, hands and arms constantly
