Its product line includes motors, linear drives, digital drives, custom assemblies, and products to fit unique applications and ground-up system design and manufacturing solutions.  We design, build and support control and power management systems for the most demanding defense, semiconductor, industrial automation, and medical applications.

Job Summary                                                            

This role will be focused on understanding what people need and knowing how to provide it. The position will undertake a wide range of HR tasks to ensure the HR department’s operations are running smoothly and effectively to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.

The Human Resources Generalist performs duties on a professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: recruiting/hiring, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, employee relations, safety, compensation, organizational development, performance management, policy implementation, metrics, HRIS/systems, payroll, communications, training, EEO and affirmative action.

Duties and Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Provides exceptional customer service to managers and employees, including responding to all inquiries quickly, completely, and professionally.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains employee information by entering and updating employment and status-change data.
  • Builds a positive work environment and supports the Company’s HR strategy
  • Takes accountability for identifying, prioritizing, and resolving/escalating issues within established timelines.
  • Plays a critical role in engagement and retention by understanding working conditions and concerns of employee population
  • Supports the HR department in implementing programs to help improve the employee experience
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Serves as backup for other team roles and assists VP of Human Resources in duties as assigned.

Hiring/Onboarding

  • Executes recruiting efforts including, but not limited to: entering requisitions in the system, candidate searches, job fairs, community functions, testing, interviewing, preparing offer packages, pre-employment checks, approvals, coordinate and facilitates orientation, onboarding, reporting, etc.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications/references.
  • Completes AAP and other government reports as required.
  • Maintains and updates job descriptions.
  • Ensures every new hire has a great first-day experience.

Benefits Management

  • Coordinates a variety of employee benefits and answers/investigates questions from employees regarding: health insurance, flexible spending, life insurance, EAP, 401(k), discounts, social functions, employee giving campaigns, etc.
  • Advises employees, answers questions, and enrolls staff in benefit and compensation programs.
  • Ensures employees know what benefits are offered by the company.
  • Assists employees with the benefit enrollment process.
  • Communicates with insurance and benefit providers to resolve issues.

Legal/Compliance

  • Implement, administer, update, and/or assist in employee policies, procedures, handbook, code of conduct, and other documents as needed.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance of employee postings.
  • Handling sensitive employee data or reports in a discreet manner.
  • Helps ensure compliance with all federal and state labor law requirements.

Employee Relations/Performance Management

  • Assists in conducting HR-related investigations including: gathering and analyzing facts, applying relevant laws and policies and practices, to reach conclusions and recommended actions, partnering with HR management and labor attorneys as needed.
  • Provide expertise and case management of employee issues, from initial intake to resolution, in collaboration with HR management..
  • Maintain required documentation, including intake, investigative notes, and final reports
  • Interpret and apply understanding of company practices, policies, and employment law to provide advice, mentorship, or clarification for employee issues.
  • Prepare termination documents.
  • Handle and/or act as back up for terminations.
  • Lead efforts for smooth off-boarding process for employees.

Organizational Development

  • Analyze and recommend topics for employee training.
  • Assist in developing, coordinating and carrying out training programs for employees, supervisors, and management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will assist VP of Human Resources in managing day to day functions of Culture Coordinator and Front Desk Receptionist when needed.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  • 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms.
  • PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
  • Efficient HR administration and people management skills.
  • Works comfortably under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually.
  • Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator or assemble/manufacture intricate items.
  • Seeing to read a variety of materials.

Pay/Salary Information

The salary range for this position is $72,000 to $80,000 annually.
