Role Summary
This position coordinates, administers and supports the day-to-day operations of the HR department and the administration of HR Policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Generalist assists in carrying out responsibilities in the following areas: HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits, organizational development and recruitment and selection. This position will successfully plan, implement, and maintain administrative processes, communications, and procedures. This position will encourage and exemplify open communication, responsiveness, confidentiality, respect, and fairness with and among employees.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects vision/values through Magna's Employee Charter. Be a champion and example of Magna's Open-Door process.• Continuously improve the effectiveness of the Human Resources function by supporting all programs, policies and procedures including but not limited to employee relations, staffing, retention, recruitment, employee orientation, training & development, employee relations, compensation, employee benefits, organizational development and organizational change. • Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook in a fair and consistent manner• Assist in updating and implementing the Employee Handbook.• Effective management and timing of the filing and maintenance of employment and benefit files.• Help administrate benefits programs, including but not limited to tuition reimbursement, COBRA, life / disability (short and long term), employee assistance programs, paid vacation and holiday programs, wellness, leaves of absence, etc.• Administrate and maintain accurate current personnel records in various HRIS systems.• Handling confidential information and personnel files on a regular basis • Monitoring of employee training needs and improvements through performance appraisals• Sourcing external training programs• Coaching and guiding all employees of all levels on conduct, open door process, magna charter etc.• Assist in all recruiting efforts working with the various groups / managers to define the opportunities needed to hire and retain a talented and dedicated workforce.• Assist in sourcing and assessing top talent; post positions internally and externally; screen resumes for cultural and technical fit; conduct phone screens; coordinate interviews and feedback; draft offers • Support collecting and coordinating immigration documentation and administration where applicable.• Support preboarding and onboarding activities (background checks orientations, new hire paperwork etc.)• Assist with annual performance review, mid year review and 90-day review as needed.• Prepare employee separation notices and conduct exit interviews.• Ensure employee confidentiality and data integrity are strictly maintained whether verbal, written or electronically transmitted.• Maintain open communications with all departments.• Support All Employee Meetings: prepare presentation deck, present pertinent information, and prepare and distribute general announcements as needed.• Support in updating SharePoint page• Benchmark, research, and understand workplace trends to provide continuous improvement recommendations and strategies to strengthen HR processes and workstreams. • Assist with projects and special events.• Provide administrative cross functional support as needed.• Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
• 2 years' experience in a human resource capacity• Must have previous experience in technical recruitment; specifically, engineering roles. • Previous experience in a Magna group or division preferred

• Bachelor's degree in human resources or Human Resources related program• Preferred Workday experience• Knowledge of Benefit administration (USA/Michigan)• Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills• Ability to work effectively within a team environment• Able to maintain high confidentiality• Excellent knowledge of English language written and oral• Must be a self-starter with superior accuracy and the ability to maintain confidential information, records and/or files.• Demonstrated process mindset, project management skills, learning agility and customer focus.• Proficient computer knowledge and skills in Applicant Tracking Systems, Workday, ADP, Microsoft Suite, SuccessFactors.
