With SmartEtailing, a bike shop's website is transformed from a passive advertisement to an interactive, content-rich marketing vehicle that informs and sells to customers.

The hiring range for this role is $60,000 - $74,000 depending on experience
This role is for a 1-person HR team/department that supports a growing organization of 77+ employees. We are looking for a Colorado candidate who is within commutable distance to our Broomfield, CO office. This is a hybrid role with some office presence expectations and a blend of home office work.

The HR Generalist works closely with the leadership team to support and provide employees with an amazing employment experience and outstanding customer service. The HR Generalist must be knowledgeable and able to function at a professional level in all aspects of HR, which includes: people leadership, culture, employee & leadership development, staffing, benefits, compensation, workers compensation, unemployment insurance, and employee conflict resolution. The HR Generalist serves as a people leadership consultant to the SmartEtailing leadership team while in collaboration with the affiliated company's HR team.
WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
  • Be a role model to others in the experience and service provided to HR's customers. Be available, approachable, and responsive to all employee inquiries and requests. Interact with employees in an honest, direct, and friendly manner while maintaining and forwarding an environment of trust, respect, and compassion.
  • Role model and coach employees at all levels on handling difficult situations and giving feedback in the moment while staying neutral. Support, empower, and encourage employees to take personal accountability.
  • Determine and plan the HR Strategy to achieve the desired culture of SmartEtailing, then take those steps to reach and sustain the culture, in partnership with SmartEtailing leadership.
  • Lead the DEI Committee and develop DEI strategy for the company.
  • Continue Culture Engagement through Emergenetics (similar to DiSC). This includes continuing to integrate it into the day-to-day with opportunities for insight, self awareness, team collaboration and dynamics.
  • Track HR Metrics to ensure HR strategy goals are being met.
  • Support employees and leaders in their development plans and providing opportunities for them to pursue their plans.
  • Educate and be a resource for questions regarding employee benefits. Work with affiliated HR team to assess benefit needs and costs, and work with all employees to ensure their understanding of the benefits and how to effectively use them.
  • Perform compensation reviews and related duties as needed, and simultaneously advise on organizational structure.
  • Be a primary representative of SmartEtailing during the recruiting and hiring process for prospective employees. Demonstrate through words and actions all the great things SmartEtailing has to offer employees while also developing and maintaining strong relationships with hiring managers. Perform the details of the recruiting and hiring process with finesse, including the creation of job postings, the effective use of UKG (ATS), communicating and tracking with candidates at all phases of the process, screening processes, making offers, new hire orientations, and more.
  • Ensure that SmartEtailing's onboarding program is relevant, accessible, experienced in a timely way, and that it fully represents SmartEtailing's values. Ensure that new employees go through the onboarding program, that the managers are engaged with their new hires, and that each new employee's experience is welcoming and exciting for them.
  • Ensure that each exiting employee has a positive departure experience and that the details of the process for HR and Payroll are completed with accuracy including the exiting process, terminations in UltiPro (HRIS), COBRA notifications, compiling last paycheck information, and setting up exit interviews.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA reporting.
  • Conduct trainings including HR related training for new supervisors and Harassment and Discrimination Awareness Training.
  • Lead employee related investigations and be involved in all levels of disciplinary action and terminations.
  • Complete unemployment insurance documentation, take part in appeal hearings as needed, and coordinate workers compensation claims and communicate with claims reps as needed.
  • Complete various administrative work such as administering reward programs, data entry of pay, department and supervisor changes in the HRIS, update employee records, and set up and file documents in employee personnel files using an electronic filing system.
  • Plan and coordinate company events, volunteer activities and act as a participating member of the Party Planning Committee.
  • Function as a consultant for supervisors, managers and employees.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 3-5 years experience directly as an HR Generalist, PHR preferred
  • Possess a foundation of knowledge regarding HR related laws and ability to apply them day-to-day (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, EOE, etc.)
  • Successful experience working in the black-&-white (analytical), gray (multiple perspectives), and heartfelt areas of HR, and know when to transition
  • Interest and ability to become a Certified Emergenetics Associate (paid for by the Company)
  • Demonstrated ability to work at a high level in an environment that includes continuous multi-tasking, interruptions, and requests for time
  • Ability to coach others in a way that is in alignment with SmartEtailing's values and provide them with additional perspectives at any level
  • Partner with leadership in an assertive, consultative approach
  • Strong desire to work as part of a high-performing team that has high expectations for themselves and each other, and which ultimately exists to support the rest of the organization
  • Ability to function at a high level in all areas and with all stakeholders, to communicate with confidence, and to ensure decisions and actions are in the best interest of the company

  • Ability to work well independently and be self-reliant while knowing when to ask questions
  • Able to travel domestically less than 5% of the time, including possession of a valid driver's license
