The Role
The HR Generalist role will report directly to the HR Manager and will be responsible for connecting compliance, processes and systems with the overall employee experience at all levels. This critical role plays an important part of the overall People Strategy of 8th Light, connecting with our Crafters regularly and openly. As the HR Generalist, you will have a strong role in administering policies and procedures, onboarding employees, data-entry, record keeping, benefits administration, employee relations and HRIS management as we grow our footprint in both North America and the United Kingdom/ EU. This position plays a key role in further embedding diversity, equity and inclusion into all our practices. Who you are
In support of our culture modeled around, Humanity, Education and Ownership and in alignment with our People Strategy, we are seeking a full-time Human Resources, Generalist to support the HR function for all our employees (designers, developers, technical leaders, business operations, etc). To do so effectively you will have:
- Proven success in creating an exceptional employee experience for all employees. Preferably in the tech industry.
- 5+ years of experience in human resources with a broad set of skills in employment law, policies and procedures, benefits, employee relations and workforce management. Global experience is a plus.
- Proven knowledge and approaches to developing, aligning and executing on people practices that engage our employees.
- Experience supporting a professional services and or consultancy focused workforce where Talent Development is prioritized.
- A proven record of incorporating and supporting DEI&B affinity groups and diversity efforts with an empathic lens.
- Experience assisting in building an exemplary employee experience for all our employees, at all career levels.
- Excellent relationship building skills, trusty-worthy and focused on cultivating relationships with exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent reporting, data mining and analysis skills, to manipulate tools and HRIS applications and platforms.
- Effective and timely communication with diligence and understanding of urgent matters.
- A goal oriented approach. You have supported and/or championed team Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) or Objective Key Results (OKRs).
- An ability to raise issues quickly; You place a high value on moving forward together, creating allies and strategic partners.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Certification as an HR Professional is strongly encouraged.
What you'll do:
HRIS Administration

- New hire HR Onboarding tasks and termination HR tasks
- Employee re-location/ transfers and p ersonnel/ employment data management
- Benefits Open Enrollment: including support of life change events
- 401K set-up quarterly enrollment: tracking, notification,
- Payroll coordination with Finance department including PTO management
- Documentation upkeep and compliance
- Lattice (performance management system) manager updates/data entry
Processes

- Offer Letters and Employment Verifications
- Personnel reports
- Manage and update Payroll tracker to ensure staff are paid correctly and on time
- Manage and update Leave Tracker for payroll (STD, LTD, FMLA, Parental)
- Address changes and State compliance assistance
- HR Projects and research assistance as needed
- Annual Winter Externship Coordinator
- Answering HR inboxes and email management
Compliance

- Labor Law poster management and maintenance for all 19 U.S. states
- Sexual Harassment Prevention training management for all employees
- EEOC Reporting
- California DFEH Report
Benefits Administration

- Monthly 401k eligibility audit
- Monthly carrier audits (Medical,Dental, Vision & COBRA)
- Cobra entries for New Hires/Departures
- BCBSIL portal admin
- Co-manage Open Enrollment processes
Onboarding/Offboarding/Promotions Admin

- Administrative checklist and upkeep (Manifestly)
- Forms - collection, processing, and filing
- Template updates - welcome templates, departure templates, payroll updates, benefit announcements
- Conduct exit interviews
- Creating new email addresses
- Adding/removing employee groups
- Google suites admin
- Other duties as reasonably required.
