9Dot associates meet up to 20 days in person annually for quarterly events, meetings and professional development our Pasadena, CA headquarters**
This role will involve travel to client sites 4-8 days a month depending on needs in the field related to terminations, disciplines, and investigations. The region may cover from N. LA, to San Fernando, Santa Clarita Valley to support northern and LA schools.
Salary - $105K to start - Depending on experience.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*
- Conduct weekly site visits to Clients sites to build relationships with management and staff.
- Act as a primary point of contact for employees regarding workplace issues, conflicts, and grievances.
- Investigate and resolve complaints and concerns in a fair and timely manner, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
- Stay updated on labor laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Provide guidance to management and employees on employment-related laws.
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance management programs, including performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Provide guidance and support to managers in conducting performance discussions and addressing performance-related or misconduct issues including write ups and involuntary terminations.
- Administer and coordinate involuntary terminations following legal requirements and adhering to company policies.
- Assist clients in developing, reviewing, and updating HR policies and procedures under the guidance of legal counsel or executive direction.
- Ensure that policies are communicated effectively to employees and consistently implemented across the organization.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees throughout the workers' compensation claims process. Coordinate with insurance providers, healthcare professionals, and legal counsel as necessary. Monitor the progress of claims and keep all parties informed. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
- Identify training needs related to employee relations and conduct training sessions for employees and managers.
- Act as liaison between various 9 DOT departments to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records.
- Assists with other projects, functions and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- In-depth knowledge of state and federal employment laws, policies and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Strong research skills: Demonstrated ability to research and stay informed about employment laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Proficiency in conducting legal research and interpreting complex information.
- Advanced computer skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets) HRIS (Human Resources Information System), and other relevant software applications. Experience with data analysis and reporting tools is a plus.
- Basic understanding of math and being comfortable with numbers to analyze metrics, interpreting statistical data, or conducting basic financial calculations.
- Must be able to travel 50% of the time.
Education and Experience:
- Proven work experience as an Employee Relations Manager, HR Manager, or a similar role.
- A minimum of 7 years of Human Resources experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of Employee Relations experience.
- Hold Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP or SPHR.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
