Job Summary

BHS is looking for a motivated Human Resources Manager to work in the highly dynamic environment of a fast-growing biotechnology company. The Human Resources Manager will run the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department, as well as provide strategic guidance on how to make continuous improvement in the HR function.

This position is full-time and will report to the President as well as receives direction from the company’s external finance and accounting consultants.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Leadership Team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy, particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, compensation and benefits, and succession planning.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Carries out new hire orientation, employee recognition programs, and employee events.
  • Administers and executes human resource programs including but not limited to payroll processing; employee benefits administration; performance reviews and talent management; disciplinary matters including investigations and terminations; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of five years of human resources experience preferred.
  • SHRM or other comparable designation a plus.
