The Senior Manager, Human Resources plays a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with business objectives and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and employee engagement for Fortis businesses in California. This role encompasses the San Diego site, nanoComposix, which specializes in precisely engineered nanomaterials, and Abcore, a nanobody discovery and custom antibody production leader in Ramona. Key Responsibilities: As the Senior Manager, Human Resources, you will oversee HR for our San Diego and Ramona offices, collaborating with site leaders and fostering an environment where people can excel. Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with senior leadership and stakeholders to align HR plans with business goals.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the senior leadership team, guiding actions related to workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management, and organizational development.
  • Managing complex employee relations issues with fairness and consistency.
  • Promoting a culture of engagement through daily interactions, action planning, and modeling.
  • Monitoring key HR metrics and providing data-driven solutions for HR and business challenges.

On-Site Presence: This role requires a hands-on approach with a minimum of 3 days per week at our San Diego office and 2+ days a month at our Ramona office. Increased on-site presence during the first three months is expected.

Key Duties:

  • Partnering with site leaders and HR colleagues to implement best-in-class policies adaptable to local site needs.
  • Assisting hiring managers with full-cycle recruitment, including job requisitions, job postings, interviews, and offers.
  • Ensuring the quality and completion of site-specific job descriptions.
  • Tracking and documenting compliance with mandatory corporate employee training.
  • Maintaining knowledge of legal requirements and serving as the internal contact for site-specific government reporting regulations.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Experience in the life sciences industry is preferred, with multisite responsibility.
  • Knowledge of federal and California state-specific laws.
  • Experience in developing and implementing plans for organizational readiness.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively reach all employee levels and sites.
  • Exceptional project management skills for complex processes.
  • Proven track record in successfully managing and mitigating a wide range of challenges.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
