Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a geologist/hydrogeologist to support our team of environmental professionals. The position will assist in the completion of project level work to support environmental remediation and water resource projects. Primary responsibilities will be related to performing key tasks to support groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, hydrogeologic investigations, model conceptualization, remediation system evaluation, remedial design, and statistical analysis of geologic and groundwater chemistry data.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Perform data analysis and data visualization using GIS.
• Analyze, interpret, and manage environmental data.
• Perform geologic and hydrogeologic research.
• Collaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice.
• Prepare technical reports.
• Conduct groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.
• Occasionally perform and document field data collection activities including conducting multi-media sampling, overseeing advancement borings, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, managing subcontractors, and overseeing soil excavation projects.
• Prepare soil boring log and well construction diagrams.
• Complete applicable company and client required health & safety training (including OSHA required training) and follow health & safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Practical ability to analyze field and technical data, perform research, demonstrate technical knowledge, and solve problems.
• Strong technical aptitude. Knowledge of groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling software, three-dimensional visualization software, database software, statistical software, programming languages etc., is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communications skills.
• Experience advocating for health, safety, and clients.
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training.
• A valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Working knowledge of field sampling techniques.
• Must complete a pre-employment HAZWOPER baseline physical examination
• Must pass drug and alcohol screening.

Education and Experience

• A BS/MS degree in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, or related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, or related field.
• Course work or experience using GIS.

Some travel, including overnight travel, may be required for this position (up to 25%). Field work may include long days and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
