Conditions of Employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state issued driver's license.
- May be required to lift up to 70 lbs. (e.g., heavy metal container), move up to 500 pounds (e.g., 55 gallon drum of fluid), and twist with weight (e.g., swing 12 pound sledgehammer) in the regular performance of duties.
- May require travel as a passenger in a helicopter, driver or passenger in a vehicle (e.g., van, 1 ton specially equipped truck, etc), and work near water and at altitudes up to 14.000 feet.
- May require climbing ladders and antenna towers up to 100 feet high.
- May require working in a confined space.
- May require using or able to learn to use computer keyboard and mouse, and manipulate parts and use small hand tools.
- Requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- May require standing and working for full work days, and could be subject to insect bites, bee stings, etc.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) gathering data from hydrologic gages; (2) repair and/or installation of gages; (3) analyses of hydrologic samples and recommends corrective actions; AND (4) identify problems and recommend solution to both data and gages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you MUST meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
