Your Role and Responsibilities
Platform Engineers play a critical role in accelerating our clients’ digital transformations by providing unique co-creation experiences that bring together architects AI engineers designers and business technology leaders. This role requires involvement in all aspects of integrated solutions from identifying requirements to making technical decisions that impact business cases. As a key member of cross-functional teams Platform Engineers are expected to extract maximum value from IBM’s hybrid cloud and AI solutions to deliver business value to clients.

• Leveraging the latest hybrid cloud skills (AI analytics DevOps DevSecOps infrastructure as code automation security networking and storage) to understand industry deep knowledge and client business
• Defining and communicating the unique value of IBM’s technology from a technical and commercial perspective * Participating in technical sessions on public cloud and hybrid cloud technologies including Red Hat OpenShift IBM Cloud Paks and Kubernetes
• Collaborating with solution architects to bring co-created value hypotheses to life and validate them through agile development
• Providing solution architecture advice that aligns with best practices focusing on the target environment to simplify deployment
• Collaborating with deployment teams (delivery customer success managers) to provide platform assets (reusable code etc.) and information to enable seamless client migration

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

1. Programming Language
Proficiency in at least one programming language or expertise in Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Java Python JavaScript/TypeScript HCL Ansible)
2. Virtualization and Cloud
Practical knowledge and direct experience with virtualized on-premises and cloud-based computing platforms
3. Deployment Automation
Experience in building automated deployment workflows for applications and infrastructure (CI/CD DevOps etc.)
4. Cloud Architecture
Proven track record of participating in technical solution teams providing cloud architecture expertise to customers
5. Agile
Understanding and practical application of Agile best practices

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
1. Hybrid Cloud and On-Premises
At least 1 year of experience in technical operations roles such as Site Reliability Engineering or Platform Engineering in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments
2. Cloud Adoption and Operations
Experience in deploying and operating solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS Azure IBM Cloud and Google Cloud 3. Cloud Framework
Knowledge of well-designed frameworks for cloud platforms such as AWS Azure IBM Cloud and Google Cloud
4. Solution Architect
Experience as a Solution Architect or Public Cloud Consultant
5. Customer Collaboration
Experience in building collaborative relationships with customers at all levels within an organization
6. Dynamic Team Environment
Experience working in a dynamic team environment collaborating with teams such as Product Management Engineering and Customer Success
7. AI Technology
Practical experience with AI technology (data/analytics data science)
8. Technical Certifications
Relevant technical certifications (e.g. CNCF AWS IBM Cloud Azure Google Cloud DevOps)
