Your Role and Responsibilities
The TBM Council is seeking a Program Manager to help us grow our awareness presence and community for Technology Business Management in Japan. With over 15000 global members and scaling fast the TBM Council is a non-profit open ecosystem underwritten by IBM. The Council staff are full-time employees of IBM who manage all aspects of the foundation’s operations strategy membership events certification and standards working in partnership with the TBMC board and community members.

Reporting to a Japan country functional leader but responsible to the Council’s Community Leader this program manager will focus on the planning execution and promotion of TBM Council content events and executive engagement. The ideal candidate brings experience and expertise across a combination of project and program management community management and marketing communications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze existing global and local Council programs in order to improve increase and implement a Japan-based marketing plan.
• Leverage our key partners at Apptio IBM and their existing marketing programs and events to maximize awareness with minimal additional cost.
• Develop a Japan TBM Council budget based on the marketing plan.
• Partner with the Council staff to engage with technology and financial executives in Japan organizations.
• Manage the Japanese TBM Council database and leverage automation tools to manage communication to our audience following all local privacy regulations.
• Conduct research with the support of the Council’s Market Research manager to gain a greater understanding of the market and to use research as a marketing tool.
• Help manage and develop content for email communications from partners to the Japan Community ensuring appropriate messaging timing and coordination.
• Plan manage and implement executive and practitioner events
• Report on metrics specific to the Japan market.
• Serve as the main point of communication contact for the TBM Council in Japan.
• Manage translation and localization of TBM content as needed including vendor management.
• Participate in TBM Council team meetings; always being the voice of the Japan market and team.
• Other responsibilities as needed as our program evolves.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• 2-5 years’ relevant experience ideally in a fast-paced environment. Background with a technology company or a technical community is ideal.
• Previous program management and marketing experience helpful.
• Excellent organizational problem-solving and project management skills.
• Strong written presentational and oral communications.
• Business English fluency required.
• Customer service and community-first mindset.
• Ability to work independently exercise judgment and meet time-sensitive goals.
• Experience and comfort working with senior level executives; ability to successfully partner with those more senior junior and at peer level.
• Ideally an understanding of the TBM model and discipline and experience working with both leaders and practitioners of TBM. Knowledge of FinOps SAFe and other related disciplines is an advantage.
• Experience working with an open source or other industry community and ability to build engagement and scale with a community.
• Strong analytical and data-driven mindset.
• Team player able to work with virtual and global cross-functional teams.
• Ability to travel up to 20% including international travel.
