IBM R&D Back-End Developer (f/m/x)

Introduction
In the Kubernetes Observability team you will directly contribute to our automatic Kubernetes metrics collection processing and related dashboards for the Instana observability platform. Our engineering org is flat with a focus on autonomy. You’ll have the opportunity to build high-visibility features in our product in support of company strategy and objectives.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a member of the Kubernetes Observabilty team your responsibilities will include:
• Design develop and influence our software roadmap for the monitoring of Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters.
• Develop our product and automated tests in Java Javascript (UI) and Go.
• Provide production support to our SRE’s field teams and customers for the features we develop.
• Collaborate with developers QAs PM’s and other Instana teams to improve our product and processes.
• Our product updates are released fortnightly so delivery focus is important.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 5+ years of back end Java development experience.
• 3+ years working with datastores such as: Cassandra ElasticSearch or Kafka.
• Demonstrated success working with distributed systems including an understanding of eventual consistency consensus and graph processing.
• 1+ years experience using Kubernetes: understand various resource types/usage common deployment patterns and awareness of upcoming capabilities

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
• Developed apps using K8s api-server using Fabric8 or client-go.
• Understanding of the K8s metrics API standard.
• Public contributions to Kubernetes a CNCF project or a K8s operator.
• 3+ years experience with the Java ecosystem: Gradle Java 8/11 JavaRX/reactor Dropwizard and Junit/Hamcrest.
• 2+ years experience with stream processing using reactive and immutable techniques.
• 1+ years experience developing in the Javascript ecosystem: React Jester and Cypress.
