IBM z/OS and Java Mainframe Architect

Information Technology Strategies, Inc. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiative in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a IBM z/OS and Java Mainframe Architect to work for our company.

Summary: 

• Client Agency is IRS.
• Must be able to pass IRS Background check (Basic eligibility requirements include: U.S. Citizenship or Green Card, clear criminal history, no recent or pending bankruptcies).  
• Will review the designs/configurations.
• Will ensure adheres to best practices and IRS policies/standards. 
• Will coordinate with the SMEs of impacted areas and facilitate the design/configuration reviews. 
• Will lead, facilitate, and coordinate Linux migration technical discussions (including documenting and distributing decisions and next steps).
• Will assist IRS operations in high level architecture/design/configuration technical discussions. 
• Will coordinate activities across workstreams to maintain schedule; Collect and report status daily. 
• Will assist /coordinate troubleshooting of infrastructure operations issues. 
• Will provide knowledge transfer/training to current IRS support staff, including documentation of processes, procedures, and system configurations. 
• Will work onsite to perform the installation, configuration, maintenance, and knowledge transfer of JAVA code on IBM z/OS mainframe.
• Will perform the monitoring and reporting of the Parallel Operations (PO) program on IBM z/OS mainframe.
• Will support for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the IBM z/OS mainframe hardware. Support High Service Availability for the IBM z/OS mainframe. 
• Will resolve technical issues related to JCL and mainframe configurations for deploying ITPE J12 and J15 on IBM Mainframe. 
• Will utilize various tools to assist the application monitoring and reporting of ITPE J12 and J15 on IBM Mainframe. 
• Must be willing and able to work onsite in Washington, DC at least 50% of the time.

Requirements: 

• Must be able to pass IRS Background check (Basic eligibility requirements include: U.S. Citizenship or Green Card, clear criminal history, no recent or pending bankruptcies).  
• Must have hands-on knowledge of IBM J9 JVM in JZOS works, and how JZOS fits in z/OS to help to understand how the z/OS handles scheduling and resource allocation pertaining to JZOS, JVM and Java threads running on GP/zIIP processors and how is JNI handled in z/OS. 
• Must have hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying Java applications on z/OS platform.
• Must have hands-on experience with Control-M-O-B.
• Must have deep experience with IBM z/OS mainframe JAVA programming. 
• Must be able to make coding changes, updates, and edits within the confines of the IT source code management and promotion protocol with IMB z/OS mainframe Java. 
• Must have previous experience developing the best course of action (project plan) to mitigate/remediate findings. 
• Must have hands-on experience with JAVA for the z/OS mainframe, z/OS JCL, Mainframe text editor ISPF, SDSF - System Display 
• Must have hands-on experience with Search Facility, SMPe, Load libraries, Proc’s and job set-ups with APF and Lnklst.
• Must have hands-on experience with Program Libraries, Joblib, Steplib, running batch jobs and reading outputs; and know how to allocate files, copy files, and run compares. 
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must have previous experience facilitating meetings and discussions. 
• Must be willing and able to work onsite in Washington, DC at least 50% of the time.
