Work Model:
This position will be located 100% onsite in Chantilly, VA
What You'll Be Doing
- Independently conducts technical studies/analysis/experiments/computation and reports findings. Initiates research and development studies designed to solve new technical problems and provide new technical solutions within area of expertise of advanced RF electronics and electromagnetics.
- Provides technical consultation and advice to management, customers, and contractors. Takes initiative to inform management of perceived technical problems and recommends courses of action.
- Leads cross-organizational teams and organizes interfaces with customer and/or Aerospace program offices. May bring in tasks and projects beyond personal activities from internal and external sources. Acts as organization's designated representative at technical meetings, presentations, and symposia.
- Grow into and work towards providing subject matter expertise in RF systems and/or antennas and antenna systems
- Solving technical problems in the areas of communications, signals collection, and remote sensing
- Supporting customer programs through modeling, simulation, and experimentation of antennas or RF components/systems and leading teams that perform these functions
- Utilizing laboratory facilities including our PACE anechoic chamber, RF signals lab, and remote testing vehicle for performance testing, prototype development, and contractor oversight
- Works both independently and as a lead of project teams
- Supporting our DOD and Intelligence customers with primary support to the National Reconnaissance Office
- Adapt to changing industry trends and explore new concepts outside your comfort zone.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Ph.D. degree from an accredited college/university program in electrical engineering, computer engineering or other related discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
- Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation
- 0-1 industry experience
- Experience in supporting both RF and antenna analysis/design and measurement
- Proficiency with a variety of popular analysis tools such as Matlab, ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, and GRASP.
- Experience working with experts in the fields of antenna systems, RF systems, SIGINT processing, communication systems and hardware prototyping.
- Background in scientific programming using languages such as C, C++, Fortran, Python, or Julia
- Willing to travel, as needed (up to 10%)
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- Advanced technical degree, PhD, in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Electromagnetics, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing, or another related field
- Experience modeling advanced antenna designs and testing in anechoic chambers
- Experience designing/fabricating/testing advanced RF electronic components and systems
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, guiding and executing taskings for small teams of engineers on several projects within a technical focus area
- Theoretical understanding and practical experience with modern communication and digital signal processing techniques and/or electromagnetic propagation theory and measurements.
