I&C Engineer II

Job Summary

AECOM has an opening for an I&C Engineer to support our growing Energy Business Line. For this role, AECOM offers the freedom and flexibility to work remotely and/or be located at a variety of Energy offices in multiple locations across the United States.

Our team provides a wide range of I&C engineering services across markets sectors including Industrial Facilities (Oil and Gas, Mining, Water, Power Generation), power distribution (OH/UG power systems, substations, EV charging networks, microgrid design, etc.), renewables (Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Wind), and next generation energy (hydrogen, fuel cells, electrolyzers, etc.). We are looking for an up-and-coming leader with a I&C engineering background to promote our skills to new clients and maintain our existing client base.

The successful candidate is expected to be a detail orientated, experienced engineer who can make decisions independently under the guidance of senior staff. The focus of the experience must be in the energy or power industry associated with I&C engineering and design. Experience with battery energy storage and/or solar/wind power is a plus.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

• Responsible for the I&C engineering design work on assigned projects under the guidance of senior staff
• P&IDs
• Instrumentation Index
• Control Architecture Diagram
• Control Narrative
• Scada Systems
• Communication Diagram
• Wiring Diagrams
• Instrumentation and Controls plans
• Attending client meetings
• Occasional travel to client/project sites

Level specific responsibilities:

• Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with some supervision.

DCS-Energy

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS (Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Process Engineering)
• 2 years of relevant instrumentation and controls experience
• Able to participate in field walks and create field sketches, take dimensions, climb ladders, etc. as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• 4+ Years of experience as an I&C Engineer associated with the design of industrial I&C systems.
• Knowledge of instrumentation including temperature, pressure, flow, and analytical instrumentation and control valve sizing principles.
• Knowledge of control valves including valve sizing
• Familiarity with Piping & Instrument Diagram Development (P&ID)
• Familiarity with control systems including PLC or DDCS based systems including automation and programming
• EIT/FE or ability to obtain EIT/FE certification
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards (NEC, NESC, IEEE,PIP etc).
• Familiarity with InTools and SmartPlant based systems
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Familiarity with control systems for Solar or wind facilities including facilities with BESS systems
