This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an I&C Project Engineer of Federal Services in United States.

This role is a highly specialized engineering position focused on the design, modernization, and lifecycle support of advanced digital instrumentation and control (I&C) systems within federal and industrial environments. You will contribute to complex control system upgrades, working on cutting-edge digital platforms that support critical infrastructure and regulated facilities. The position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and clients to deliver compliant, high-performance solutions. You will play a key role in translating technical requirements into robust system designs while ensuring regulatory, safety, and operational standards are met. This is a hands-on engineering role that spans design, documentation, testing, and field validation activities. It is ideal for an experienced engineer seeking to contribute to mission-critical projects with national-level impact.

Accountabilities:

  • Perform advanced digital I&C engineering design activities, including PLC, DCS, networked systems, and instrumentation/control system functional development.
  • Develop and review system designs to ensure compliance with client requirements, industry codes, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Prepare Engineering Change Packages (ECPs) to support modernization of analog systems into advanced computer-based control systems.
  • Conduct detailed engineering calculations, including scaling, uncertainty analysis, and setpoint determination for control systems.
  • Develop design documentation, including schematics, master diagrams, and technical inputs for drawing production.
  • Support project planning activities by developing design studies, project scopes, engineering estimates, and budget inputs.
  • Review OEM technical documentation for applicability in digital I&C system implementations.
  • Participate in project meetings and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to refine technical solutions.
  • Conduct site walkdowns to evaluate existing conditions and support design validation and system integration.
  • Ensure all engineering work aligns with project schedules, quality standards, and federal compliance requirements.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control (I&C) engineering.
    • Strong experience with DOE or federal-level engineering projects preferred.
    • Expertise in digital control systems, including PLCs, DCS, and computer-based monitoring platforms.
    • Experience in full lifecycle delivery of large-scale control system upgrades, including design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
    • Strong understanding of industry codes, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements for digital I&C systems.
    • Ability to perform system analysis, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting in complex engineering environments.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • U.S. citizenship required and ability to access client sites for field evaluations and walkdowns.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive annual salary ranging from 140,000 to 165,000 USD depending on experience and qualifications.
      • Opportunity to work on high-impact federal and critical infrastructure engineering projects.
      • Exposure to advanced digital control systems and next-generation modernization initiatives.
      • Professional development within a highly technical, innovation-driven engineering environment.
      • Collaborative work culture with strong cross-disciplinary engineering engagement.
      • Equal opportunity workplace with strong commitment to inclusion and compliance.
      • Potential eligibility for comprehensive benefits including healthcare, retirement plans, and paid time off (details provided during hiring process).
