About the Team/Role
The Fraud Analytics and Strategy team is responsible for Financial Crime detection and prevention at WEX. We are a team that is data-driven to optimize performance of our Fraud detection tools. Using advanced analytics and robust Risk Mitigation Framework, we implement strategies to protect our clients from Financial Crimes.
We are seeking an IAM Strategy Manager who will lead a team of Fraud Strategists that will be responsible for developing and maintaining fraud prevention systems and logic, leading to best-in-class fraud loss metrics and customer experience for WEX. The successful candidate will have deep knowledge and experience in identity and access management fraud mitigation, preferably in commercial payments. The successful candidate will be collaborative and a strong communicator. This position will report directly to the Senior Manager of Fraud Strategy.
How you'll make an impact

Lead a team of fraud risk strategists to enhance overall detection and prevention of threat vectors associated with identity theft, application fraud, and account takeover. Including evaluation of existing fraud rules, implementation of new strategies and future preventative solutions where appropriate.

Deploy fraud mitigation techniques and industry best practices to optimize fraud decisions with outstanding customer experience.

Monitoring fraud risk to provide timely detection of emerging patterns in criminal activity, including analyzing fraudster profiles and the type of fraud we are experiencing (first party / third party, synthetic identities, etc.)

Developing solutions (both internal analytics, vendor solutions and technology) to reduce fraud risk and financial losses, while minimizing impact to good customers.

Evaluating external partners/vendors (i.e. risk data providers, monitoring solutions) to supplement our fraud detection and remediation capabilities.

Collaborate with key stakeholders and cross-functional partners across WEX including Risk Operations, Technology, Bank, Risk and Compliance/BSA/AML.
In the first 100 days, the employee will:

Document existing IAM fraud detection systems and strategies across WEX

Build relationships with internal stakeholders

Understand WEX customers and products
Experience you'll bring
Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred
-
6+ years of experience in Fraud Mitigation both with internal and vendor solutions and Commercial Risk space; Payments industry experience a plus

Experience using statistics and advanced analytics to solve complex business problems and experience leading a team applying these approaches

Ability to think critically in order to analyze problems and develop creative, practical and efficient solutions for a multinational company

The ability to learn quickly, solve complex problems, and perform in a fast-paced environment

Strong communications skills that distill complex data and systems issues to both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong people leadership and collaboration skills with enterprise first mindset

Understanding of and experience with risk decision engines and/or payment technology

Leadership qualities that motivate collaboration with others, guiding the prioritization of initiatives

Willingness to learn and continuously build technical skill set

Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects and tasks at the same time

Adaptable and comfortable working collaboratively and independently in a self-starting manner
The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
