Job Description
Indica Labs are recruiting for an entry-level image analyst to work at our headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico (or remote within the US). The job will be directly involved in annotating digital pathology images prior to processing them through Indica Labs' HALO AI algorithms. This work will play a key role in developing artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms as part of Indica Labs' clinical and life science portfolio. The successful candidate will become part of a growing team within Indica Labs that design cutting-edge and innovative AI algorithms for digital pathology. These algorithms will benefit both patients, clinicians as well as researchers in the field. The field of AI analysis in digital pathology is at an exciting time where we are beginning to witness these algorithms being used in both life science and clinical workflows.
The successful candidate should be an enthusiastic and collaborative worker that is passionate about developing image analysis research into tools to impact the healthcare system and fields of life science. Knowledge of histology and histopathology, and experience with image analysis software is preferred. No knowledge of any computing programming or computer science is required, the position is not for a data scientist or candidate involved in direct programming in the field of computer vision. This position is for a junior team member looking for their first or second placement in the field of digital pathology and image analysis.
Image Analyst
Classification: FLSA Exempt
Reports To: Senior Principal Scientist, AI Diagnostics
Summary
This is a scientific and technical position responsible for performing scientific analysis on digital pathology images with appropriate presentation of key data to the stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contributes to end-to-end histopathology image analysis studies on projects involving Indica Labs' collaborators.
- Conducts image analysis tasks using Indica Lab's suite of software on digital pathology images; including image annotations, image analysis algorithm training and data analysis.
- Maintains regular status communications, where appropriate, with collaborators and Indica team throughout a study's execution.
- Prepares study reports for internal and external projects and present results, data, and findings.
- Responsible for the appropriate accessing and handling of electronic Protected Health Information (PHI) as outlined by policy and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant biomedical science discipline.
- Basic knowledge of histology and histopathology.
- Basic knowledge of working with image analysis software designed to analyse digital pathology samples.
- Authorization to work in the United States of America (Indica Labs, Inc. does not sponsor work visas).
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year experience in image analysis or digital pathology.
- One (1) years working experience with cancer or toxicological histopathology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to deliver presentations to small and large scientific audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- A passion for providing superior project delivery
- Basic skills in Information Technology (IT) and network knowledge
- Ability to provide complex data in an easy to understand format
- Critical thinking skills
- Ability to work for extended periods of time using computer screens
Location
This position reports to our headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico, however all work may be performed remotely in the applicant's home state. Candidates in Albuquerque, NM have the option of in office, hybrid, or remote work.
