Join us as an Immigration Specialist

Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting Immigration Specialist to join our Legal team. In this role you will work closely with BBH's Employment Counsel and will act as the Office of General Counsel's primary point of contact with respect to firm-wide immigration matters, providing corporate immigration support to BBH's lines of business and the Human Resources department.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Advise the business lines and Human Resources on US immigration law and regulations in connection with the recruitment and employment of foreign nationals.
  • Prepare U.S. immigration petitions and other applications, such as PERM, H-1B, and L-1 applications.
  • Work with outside counsel, managing the work-flow, quality-checking the work and ensuring that counsel adheres to BBH's policies and procedures.
  • Advise Global Mobility on immigration issues with respect to its expat and business travel programs.
  • Coordinate and manage the workflow with respect to global immigration petitions and matters.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to our global offices in connection with local immigration matters.
  • Advise on immigration-related issues as it relates to the Firm's engagement of contingent workers and other contracted resources.
  • Monitor developments in immigration law and advising key stakeholders on changes and providing training.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years' experience at a law firm or financial institution
  • Knowledge of immigration law / processes
  • Familiarity with third party subpoenas / litigation
  • Excellent organizational and research skills

BBH's compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $100,000 to $120,000, which is specific to New York, NY and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
