Impact Lending Data Analyst
ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
As a Data Analyst in the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) & Impact Lending Department, your primary responsibility will be to gather and analyze large sets of information to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can be used in grant applications and reporting, the development of new lending products and the optimization of VyStar's fair lending practices. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining databases, creating data visualizations, and generating reports that provide meaningful information to decision-makers across the organization. Responsibilities will also include evaluating and analyzing lending opportunities based on their social, environmental, and economic impact. You will work in a team responsible for allocating capital to projects that create positive change within communities and work towards achieving VyStar's impact lending goals.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reporting to the SVP, CDFI & Impact Lending you will work with other senior leaders to support the setting of financial goals and objectives for the CDFI.
- Work closely with the lending team to define metrics, data requirements, and reporting needs.
- Collect and analyze customer data to identify patterns and trends related to loan performance and repayment rates.
- Build and maintain databases, data pipelines, and data visualization tools to support ongoing reporting and analysis.
- Develop predictive models to identify and optimize lending practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and implement new lending products or strategies based on data insights.
- Developing Impact Reports that measure the social and environmental impact of funded projects.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase the CDFI's loan portfolio and impact.
- Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for the CDFI to expand its impact.
- Ensure compliance with CDFI Fund regulations and reporting requirements.
- Monitor the performance of the CDFI's loan portfolio and identify potential risks.
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure alignment of goals and objectives.
- Staying Up to Date with Regulations - You must remain up to date with regulatory requirements and ensure that all lending practices comply with these regulations.
- As an Impact Lending Analyst, you must be able to work collaboratively with other teams, including risk management, finance, marketing and legal to ensure goals are being met.
- Analyzing and researching CDFI industry trends and best practices.
- Developing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders, including funders.
- Collaborating with other departments, such as lending and community outreach, to support CDFI program goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SVP, CDFI & Impact Lending.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Either Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis or a similar role, preferably in finance or lending.
- Demonstrable expertise with statistical analysis tools, such as R or Python, and proficiency in SQL.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, data validation, and data analysis functions.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with financial modeling and analysis tools.
- Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau and PowerBI.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
The Impact Lending Analyst should have excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as a strong understanding of financial analysis, have a thirst for knowledge and the desire to learn new programs. Any experience working with CDFIs, or other community development organizations is preferred.
- Strong analytical capabilities with knowledge of accounting/financial reporting and financial modeling.
- Working knowledge of data analysis and/or programming languages such as SQL, Python, or others.
- Ability to understand regulatory compliance particularly in the CDFI Industry.
- Ability to work independently, work on multiple projects simultaneously and is a self-starter
- Exhibits flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments.
- Avid and positive team player.
- Strong leadership skill and the ability to coach and mentor other analysts.
- Strong communication skills including presentation, interpersonal and writing skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present complex data and insights in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of credit union/bank products and services.
- Experience in CDFI or other community development organization.
- Experience with geocoding and census tract analyses.
- High Proficiency in data analytics.
