Job Description

About the team & opportunity

What’s so great about working on Calendly’s Operations team?

We are the infrastructure of our business that allows us to scale to new heights.

Why do we need you? We are looking for an In-House Counsel who will bring commercial legal experience with a strong sense of service and great sense of humor. You will report to the Managing Counsel of Commercial Paper and support key business leaders on all Legal needs.

A day in the life of In-House Counsel at Calendly

You'll be drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of agreements on behalf of Calendly while assisting team members in ad hoc projects. You should possess a great blend of legal expertise and operational knowledge that enables the business to assess, prioritize and act upon legal recommendations.

On a typical day, you will be working on:
  • Commercial contracting and management (vendor and sales): drafting, reviewing, redlining contracts (MNDAs, MSAs, DPAs); leading negotiations with vendors and customers; assist with legal workflow and contract life cycle; and facilitate the timely closure of business transactions while minimizing risk exposure.
  • Marketing/Product support: conduct research and provide recommendations for new product developments; collaborate with internal partners to draft terms appropriate to account for any new developments; review marketing content for distribution
  • Litigation support: assist in potential and any active litigation, including participating in fact development, assisting with discovery issues, handling outside counsel, and developing litigation strategies.
  • Compliance support: assist the Privacy team with data protection compliance efforts, as needed, including responsibility for DPA reviews; track and ensure the company conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and provide continuing counsel and advise on legal matters.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
What do we need from you?
  • JD and bar membership in good standing and at least 3 years of significant experience: in-house experience in a fast-growing technology company or in the software/SaaS space is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Data Privacy law and practices; CIPP preferred.
  • Ability to embed into the business across: systems, tools, processes to ensure adequate understanding for legal considerations.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, revising and negotiating enterprise SaaS agreements, related support and services agreements, and data protection agreements.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional groups and operate in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Practical, proactive, business-savvy and dedication to service with a sense of humor with a large dose of problem solving.
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time.
What’s in it for you?

Ready to make a serious impact? Millions of people already rely on Calendly’s products, and we’re still in the midst of our growth curve — it’s an excellent time to join us. Everything you’ll work on here will accelerate your career to the next level.
