Industrial Engineer II / Industrial Engineer Senior - Supply Chain
At Ball Aerospace's Westminster, Colorado location, we develop and manufacture state of the art RF & sensor technologies that are integrated onto tactical missile and aircraft platforms. If you'd like to join our rapidly growing operations team in a mission to support the warfighter, this could be an ideal role for you. This Supply Chain Industrial Engineer II role will report into our Manufacturing & Test Operations team and support activities within our Aerospace manufacturing Center located in Westminster, Colorado. This is a challenging and dynamic role that engages cross functionally to analyze, coordinate, and improve material and information flow to ensure customer expectations are met. This role requires a results driven individual, with passion for continuous improvement, and experience with analyzing demand data, material logistics, and inventory control.
What You'll Do:

  • Develop effective relationships with key program personnel in various support roles.
  • Improve the flow of materials from inventory receipt through Finished Goods Inventory .
  • Develop a method to measure the velocity of the factory, which will feed a forecast demand model.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction in managing the material baseline for multiple programs with an emphasis on:
    • Accurate material demand data
    • Material flow data that drives logistical decision making
    • Meeting program schedule milestones and build commitments
    • FAR compliance
  • Proactively communicate and manage material flow interruptions or anomalies, managing schedule break impacts, mitigating additional risks to programs associated with program execution inefficiencies.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing operations and Supply Chain to strategically plan, influence, and sustain effective manufacturing schedules and coordinate with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet program requirements.
  • Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems. May refer to established precedents and policies
  • Interface effectively with other people at all levels and from diverse areas, use initiative in applying solutions to assignments, contribute to large teams and provide leadership to less experienced employees.
  • Represent the organization as a subject matter expert. Interact with key personnel internal and external to the Manufacturing & Test Operations organization on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to understand end-item deliverables & accurately quantify demand to achieve said end state deliverables.
  • Maintain an intense focus and continuous presence where the work is performed. Take daily Gemba walks, go and see to gather the facts, and develop a deep and thorough understanding of the process and facts.
  • Be accountable, drive accountability within the organization, and put problems first with a sense of urgency.
  • Providing support to supply chain team with supplier quality issues.
  • Perform analysis and appropriate conveyance around the following:
    • Internal/Supplier capacity analysis
    • Quality capture
    • Flow/inventory control
  • Leverage Excel and data visualization software such as Tableau.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.


What You'll Need:

  • Industrial Engineer II - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
  • Industrial Engineer Senior - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A proven Industrial Engineering skillset that demonstrates an aptitude for:
    • Simulation modeling, queueing analysis, systems thinking, and material logistics
    • Thorough knowledge of MRP systems/concepts
    • Demand/inventory planning
    • Moderate financial acumen
    • Strong statistics and analytics capability
  • Experience supporting a PFEP (Plan for every part) analysis & strategy.
  • Basic knowledge on supply chain contracts.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
  • A creative approach to problem solving and an appetite for experimentation.
  • A problem-solving endurance that persists in the wake of initial setbacks.
  • Experience aligning and influencing fellow employees without direct functional responsibilities.
  • Ability to facilitate discussion in individual and group settings.
  • Ability, and experience, combining information to tell a visual story of the current state and team progress in executing continuous improvement.
  • A mentality that seeks dynamic gains over static optimizations.
  • A strong focus on the horizontal flow of value across several supporting organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully leading projects and/or teams.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration, recognition of individuals strengths and areas for improvement, and an ability to manage misalignment between individuals and/or groups.


On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel aโ€‹nd local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.   • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER II: $97,500 - $121,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
  • HIRING SALARY RANGE FOR INDUSTRIAL ENGINEER SENIOR: $121,500 - $153,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
