Job Description

The Industry Manager leads the team that is accountable for driving continued sales growth of core products, services and solutions and increasing market share in Hybrid industry while identifying further growth opportunities including the identification of future technology and service's needs. The Hybrid industry includes Food & Beverage, Household and Personal Care, Life Sciences and Eco Industrial.

The Industry Manager designs and staffs an organizational structure that can effectively ensure successful execution of our industry strategy including market development and orders growth. Leading a team of industry experts, knowledgeable about strategic growth areas, applications, and capabilities in their assigned industry. These industry leaders will advise our account teams on our customer's greatest opportunity for productivity, while defining the business outcomes enabled by our industry focus. This team will be responsible for building credibility across the industry and our customer's organizations through direct engagement.

The Industry Manager builds intelligence around competitor strategies and activities, market trends and challenges as well as their impact on local and global businesses of Rockwell Automation

The position is responsible to and drive the Rockwell Automation digital transformation value proposition leading the adoption of software, connected services, consulting, solutions, and annuity business model. Responsibilities also include providing the necessary leadership essential to grow the business including market analysis based on industry insights, business development, sales enablement, and go to market strategy for the Hybrid industry.

Technology and Innovation:
  • Experience in enterprise digital transformation
  • Industry-led and customer-centered strategic solution mindset
  • Knowledge of technology, solutions, and services in the automation market with an emphasis on IT/OT convergence
  • Knowledge of IoT edge and cloud-based solutions, predictive analytics, and digital solutions
  • Customer obsessed mindset with a focus on industry needs and what value can be delivered through a Rockwell solution.
  • Awareness of competitors in the industry.
  • Works collaboratively to provide feedback for future technology and services needs to the appropriate business units.


Sales Enablement:
  • Collaborates with Sales Enablement team to create industry playbook ensuring best practices
  • Identifies and communicates the Definition of Winning for the appropriate industry ecosystem to achieve accelerated market growth.
  • Facilitates and educates the industry ecosystem community within Rockwell Automation by leading industry affinity teams.


Industry Insights and Strategy:
  • Jointly leads governance discussions with peer Industry Managers and business segments to maximize end-to-end performance of all assigned Industry Segments
  • Creates monthly and quarterly business review summaries of industry wins, market trends, and key performance metrics.
  • Coordinates the execution of strategic initiatives and Hybrid industry ecosystem plans with the North American sales regions and company business units.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends and insights.
  • Provides industry thought leadership and is viewed as a trusted advisor both internally and externally.
  • Works cross functionally with marketing, sales leadership, and the global industry account team to implement key strategic growth initiatives and priorities for the XXX industry.
  • Develops, communicates, and provides input for the Business Strategy Review (BSR) and Sales Execution Plan for the Hybrid Industry.
  • Works collaboratively with geographic sales fostering a cadence of communication, opportunity/account planning and joint sales development activities impacting industry strategy. Contributes during the sales process through:
    • Providing application knowledge
    • Providing knowledge of the industry and customer needs
    • Providing knowledge of processes involved in pursuit of complex orders


Ensures knowledge of company policies and procedures. Appropriately applies policies and procedures in compliance with government laws. Policies and procedures include, but not limited to: Standards of Business Conduct, Intellectual Property, Control Environment, Information Protection, ISO 9000 & 14000, government regulations (e.g. health, safety, quality and environmental).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Min 8 years of sales management experience
  • 10 or more years' experience in sales, marketing, or operations in the Automation, Technology, or Digital Transformation field.
  • 10 or more years in the industry of multi-billion-dollar, global customer, or services provider


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience in business and digital transformation
  • Experience working at a software company or industrial competitor within their software business
  • Knowledge of technology, solutions, and services in the automation market with an emphasis on IT/OT convergence
  • Knowledge of IoT edge and cloud-based solutions, predictive analytics, and digital solutions
  • Industry-led and customer-centered strategic solution mindset
  • Strong strategy focus with continuous improvement mindset
  • Resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Ability to work with and gain confidence of senior level personnel (internal and external) in a highly collaborative, matrixed stakeholder organization
  • Previous global sales experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of various channels to market and how each one operates
  • Proven track record of:
    • strategy development and execution
    • exhibiting highest level of integrity, exceptional judgement and bias for action
    • aligning and influencing critical stakeholders
    • creativity and innovation
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel ~40% of time. Ability to sell and influence a large territory through digital technologies.
