Industry Strategy Lead, Public Sector

Appian is actively seeking a seasoned and passionate Industry Strategy Lead to drive go-to-market efforts for our Global Public Sector business. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with our key Public Sector market segments—including Defense, Federal Civilian, and State & Local Government—and a strong understanding of Appian’s technology ecosystem, including business process automation, low-code application development, and case management.Â
This role will be located at Appian Headquarters in McLean, VA.Â
To be successful in this role, you need:
An in-depth understanding of Public Sector buyers and their needs, and the ability to conduct systematic market research to craft and evolve Appian’s differentiated value proposition for government organizations.
The ability to produce creative, memorable, high-impact positioning, messaging, and content in support of go-to-market initiatives and product launches.Â
A strong technical and sales orientation, and the ability to connect with and relate to both Product Management and Sales to act as the bridge between the two
The ability to collaborate across go-to-market functions—Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Customer Success—and act as the central point of contact to drive stakeholder buy-in and ensure the success of all go-to-market efforts for Public Sector; experience leading multi-disciplinary go-to-market teams.Â
Excellent presentation skills and stage presence to capture the imagination of internal and external audiences through public speaking engagements.

Basic qualifications:Â
BA/BS degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
10+ years of B2G/B2B enterprise software/implementation experience in the Public Sector, esp. U.S. federal agencies
Experience in business process management (BPM), robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI), case management, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), preferred
