A Brief Overview

Informatics Educators are responsible for the success of Informatics Education initiatives through proper assessment, planning, development, delivery, and support of Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Technology education. Working with minimal supervision, Informatics Educators are responsible for both their own work as well as general oversight of junior-level staff work products. This role is responsible for coaching junior-level staff to maintain quality in communication, training design, material development, and training delivery. Work also includes elements of project management, curriculum development, training delivery, and support.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS

Informatics Educators have four levels that are distinguished from each other primarily by:

1.the complexity of assignments,

2.the size and scope of the departments or services for which responsibility is assigned,

3.the range and depth of expertise required, and independence of action (degree of supervision received).

LEVEL I: Intermediate• Develop and maintain curriculum for assigned area(s) of responsibility• Develop and maintain support documents for assigned area(s) of responsibility• Develop and maintain Informatics Education support documentation• Develop and maintain Informatics Education communication• Oversee Credentialed Trainers classroom delivery standards• Support Credentialed Trainer workstreams

LEVEL II:Advanced• All responsibilities of Informatics Educator I including:• Serve as the Informatics Education liaison for external departments• Function as the education, training, and communication project manager• Provide recommendations and insight around strategic decisions and complex issues• Recommend new processes, tools, and services• Support and contribute to development of new products, services, or techniques

SENIOR ISenior I• All responsibilities of Informatics Educator I and II including:• Serve as Subject Matter Expert in assigned area(s) of responsibility• Serve as first point of contact for customer service issues• Act as a functional project manager for complex training initiatives• Resolve training escalations for operational problems and technical issues• Onboards new technologies and programs with moderate oversight and guidance• Transitions new technologies and programs to standard work; including training and maintenance• Assist in work prioritization and guidance for junior-level staff

SENIOR IISenior II• All responsibilities of Informatics Educator I and II, Senior I including:• Serve as Subject Matter Expert in an area beyond standard service lines• Support junior-level employees around work-related skill set development• Serve as a resource and coach for staff and influence the workforce to achieve high level of performance• Independently identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions• Identifies new technologies and programs• Onboards new technologies and programs with little oversight and guidance• Transitions new technologies and programs to standard work; including training and maintenance• Seek innovative solutions to improve the quality and scope of Informatics Education services

What you will do
  • Training & Education
  • Assess, design, develop, and maintain training/education curriculum and materials.
  • Support achievement of target educational goals for various departments, projects, or employees.
  • Collaborate with other trainers, educators, Informaticists/Analysts, and Subject Matter Experts to ensure delivery of effective and accurate training to impacted users.
  • Collaborate with the Information Technology Department, business leads, other stakeholders, and management in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of training programs.
  • Integrate knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and guidelines into educational programming.
  • Deliver scheduled instructor led training for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Assist other Credentialed Trainers and Informatics Educators as needed.
  • Support at-the-elbow support for users during Informatics Education and EHR initiatives at Go-Live.
  • Respond to 1:1 education request while remaining within Service Level Agreement expectations.
  • Document and monitor new hire EHR competency.
  • Participate in workflow design and system build to gain in-depth knowledge of why the workflows have been designed the way they have, and the important system functionality supporting the workflows.

  • Performs other related and incidental duties as needed or required
  • Advanced professional who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/ projects/ tasks of moderate scope and complexity; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Performs analytical work in an assigned decision support area to develop expertise needed to be fully functional in an assigned specialty area of decision support.

  • Significant understanding of techniques, processes, and procedures to complete tasks in creative and effective ways
  • Identifies areas of opportunity and provides solution recommendations
  • Performs moderately complex decisions of limited scope and impact while developing in-depth knowledge of decision analysis principles, techniques, and practices.

  • Supports users at varying levels depending on assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Almost daily interaction with business partners' employees and Information Technology partners.
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite applications.
  • Familiar with Learning Management Systems
  • Familiar with Electronic Health Records (EHR)

Education Qualifications
  • Associate's or equivalent combination of Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's preferred
  • Clinical Experience with current state licensure warrants title: Clinical Informatics Educator II

Experience Qualifications
  • 7+ years of training experience

  • Understand health care workflows and EHR/Technology functionality.
  • Apply general medical terminology during training delivery when appropriate.
  • Apply EHR/Technology knowledge to assess education requests and end-user needs.
  • Apply industry-standard adult learning, training, and coaching principals, and methods.
  • Identify metrics that monitor training program efficacy.
  • Experience working with the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) preferred.

  • Register, track, and grade users in Learning Management Systems.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $54.17 - $71.77 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
